Calipari: No team has more upside than Cats

08:32 AM ET 01.25 | John Calipari has an explanation for the fiery nature that earned him national attention last week. On a Southeastern Conference teleconference Monday, Calipari explained why he gets so animated during all games, but most notably last week when television cameras caught him cursing freshman Terrence Jones. "This team's upside is enormous because individual players are playing 50-60 percent of what they're capable of doing," the UK coach said. "... I don't think any team in America has got more upside."

I agree. But, let's get on with what we have come to expect on BB threads. You guys surely did not let us down yesterday. Thanks.

Upside, downside; it's all good!

He'd better get used to it. As long as he keeps getting these one and done guys, he's going to have a lot of immaturity on the floor. Common sense should tell him that. Last year, he was loaded, but with freshmen all stars who went pro. Now, he's rebuilding with the same type guys.

This who one and done deal is kind of stupid. If the kids want to go straight to the pros, why not let them. I like baseball's rules here. Go straight to the pros if you want, but if you choose college, you need to stay 2 or 3 (I forget) years.

Too bad they don't have a big time/big game coach. Cal continues to give games away. Against Alabama down two, with about 38 seconds left he allowed Bama to dribble the clock down to 8 second. Although Bama turned it over with 2.8 left, I think Cal should have been fouling to extended the game.

What are your chances of going the length of the court w/ 2.8 left and scoring. Bad coaching. Don't mention the Kansas title game.

Great liar, I mean recruiter, average coach at best. Remember talent wins over coaching MOST of the time. He has had talent at Memphis and UK.

I am a fan of Rosie Jones' "upside", though.

He needs to get a few players who will stay 3/4 years and sprinkle about 2 superstar 1 and dones.. Then he might be able to pull a Carmelo Anthony type Title..

Good plan, LSU...

I agree with you 100%. I would like them to stay 3 years, and at least try to get the education.

What does remaining in school have to do with obtaining an education?

1. You can turn pro and still obtain your college degree. Many athletes have done so... like many of us have worked and attended college at night.

2. How many athletes at big university get a "real" education anyway?
