08:08 AM ET 01.26 | Governor Chris Christie would like the Garden State to remain an NBA state. Governor Christie has had "casual conversations" with National Basketball Association Commissioner David Stern about the possibility of Newark getting another NBA team once the Nets leave for Brooklyn in 2012, he said Tuesday. Christie said he is aware that Stern has expressed doubts about the feasibility of a third NBA franchise joining the Nets and New York Knicks in the same metropolitan area. ... "I think there is a future for NBA basketball here in Newark," Christie said.

He is wasting time talking to Stern. Better offer some tax incentives and a new arena. Then they will come. The owners like freebies.

Yeah, cuz the NBA isn't watered down enough with lackluster teams and talent.

Looking at the attendance for the Devils and the Islanders in the NHL (both teams that have a history of winning, but have been jokes this season), and I think it's clear the market can sustain two franchises, but three is stretching it too far.

Yeah a new team for New Jersey. And Seattle still wants one. Lets go to a 50 team league, so every state has a team.

And that is the biggest thing, they weren't drawing when they were going to the finals, which I never understood why......so it would be crazy to put another team in nj

But at that point they were still playing in the wastelands, ehm, meadowlands. in the middle of nowhere trying to draw people from the city.
