08:35 AM ET 01.26 | One of Jay Feaster's first moves took some courage, particularly in that it meant putting a popular teammate, Craig Conroy, on waivers. The move comes one night before the final game before the All-Star break, which could be a critical clash in the Flames' quest to climb into a playoff spot. Plus, Conroy is among the most well-liked players on the team, and best of friends with team captain Jarome Iginla. In fact, Iginla wouldn't talk about the decision, while Conroy left the Saddledome without speaking to the media. He politely declined comment when contacted.

2 points in 18 games isn't going to cut it...

At least he was nice about it...

Have always said he is a class act. :)

Conroy is a great guy but, he's washed up. He was done like 3 years ago. Nobody could convince Da Duhrryl that he was though.

I hope he doesn't end up living in Harry's basement.

HC warming up to Joke-inen? Why! That'd be like Hank warming up to Luongo!

The difference being that HC is actually a Flames fan, H isn't a Canucklehead.

too bad is the key phrase there...

but Feaster has an interesting problem - try to push make some minor moves and push hard for the #8 seed (how many more time do they play the Oil?) ... or get rid of some bad contracts (while 'they' are playing good and have value) and stockpile picks and prospects

No surprise Iggy doesn't have a comment. What do you say? Conroy has always been a classy guy, and its my understanding that Conroy's Iginla's best friend on the team (which likely extended Conroy's career a season or 2). He can't get down on mgmt, they are making the right move, even if it lacks in "class". The guy's not good enough to be on the team anymore, period. What are they supposed to do?

If Feaster's lucky (sort of), maybe this upset Iginla enough to want to leave, but I doubt it. This team needs to take its lumps the rest of the year, trade some pieces at the Deadline (Kipper if anyone wants him, Bouw if anyone wants him, Stajan if anyone will take him. Regehr? not so sure), and start over next year, just like the Sens have decided to do.

A 39 year old winger who has 5 goals, 15 points and is a -7 in his last 81 games? Is anyone surprised he was put on waivers? His only saving grace is that he is only a $500,000 hit against a teams salary cap if they want him.

Please Please IGGY....go into Feasters office and say get me the **** outta here. You deserve a chance at a cup.

Or Canuck warming up to Burkie or Kessel.

Wait! Scratch that. No-one warm up to these guys.

Not warming up to Kessel Stranger but I'd like to thank him for not showing up at work again. He's now on his third 7 game goal drought of the season. Atta boy "All-Star." hahahaha

Can't be a surprise - the Leafs haven't blown anybody out in the last bunch of games so he hasn't had any garbage time to score his goals in.
