Sens out of Forsberg hunt?

With a cap hit of $7 million, don't look for the Senators to be high on the list of Peter Forsberg suitors. If and when the Forsberg bidding begins in a couple of weeks, look for the Flyers, Avalanche and Red Wings to at least initially be the three most serious teams involved.

Enough! We all know how Peter is going to come back later this year... Is there nothing else to talk about??!!??

What no Predator sale headline?

November 5, 2007  08:26 AM ET

Come on guys, there are huge differences between this and other stories about Foppa - this one is about a team that DOESN'T want to chase him anymore. Geez..

November 5, 2007  09:09 AM ET

i hope my islanders can afford him

November 5, 2007  10:16 AM ET

Don't be so excited to get Forsberg on your team... As a Preds fan, I can tell you that the current version, v.2007, is not what you are looking for... Playing with Kariya and Arnott late last year, he did NOTHING except cost us Scottie Upshall, a rising top player... This is not the Hall of Fame Forsberg...He has a name, can sell some shirts and a few tickets...After a few games, the tickets stop selling and you want to bring the shirt back.....and we won 110 games!!

goC dont be trying for a F/N writing job....now the stories will go backwards and we can start to delete the teams rumoured to be after his services. Its all in good fun....and that 6 pak still stands.

November 5, 2007  02:39 PM ET

Yeah, okay... The Sens may be out of the hunt but I am going to track down the idiot in fanation who keeps posting this article and I am going to D I C K Cheney their ****

November 5, 2007  02:40 PM ET

WHAT, the bleeped A S $! HAHA.

November 5, 2007  03:08 PM ET

Looking into my crystal ball I see Foppa's ankle turning to jello the moment it comes in contact with ice. I don't doubt or deny that this guy has epic skills but its all useless when your watching the game from the press box.

maybe FN should post stories about him that actually matter rather than picking a random team hes interested in on a daily basis

November 5, 2007  05:33 PM ET

This may all be a moot point. I just read on the TSN website that he skated off the ice at practice with the Swedish national team and complained that his ankle "wasn't holding up." He also stated according to the article that if this situation stayed the same, he was going to retire.

November 5, 2007  07:26 PM ET

Forsberg was not retired?

November 5, 2007  08:18 PM ET

It doesn't matter. Forsberg won't be playing for anybody any time soon. His ankle won't let him. (DC)

November 5, 2007  08:20 PM ET

No NHL team period. If he needs major surgery, he WILL retire. They've done all the minor stuff they can.

November 6, 2007  05:43 AM ET

go to the Bruins....

November 6, 2007  07:06 AM ET

Go to the Yotes:-D

November 6, 2007  10:26 AM ET

Obvious, wise decision. See two posts after this one.

November 6, 2007  02:29 PM ET

Whoever brings in Forsberg is guaranteed a playoff run, IMO.

November 6, 2007  06:12 PM ET

His ankle won't allow him to return to the NHL on any team let alone a team with minimal cap space.
