06:31 AM ET 11.05 | In another incident that could hasten his departure from the Redskins, wide receiver Brandon Lloyd missed a recent meeting and was prohibited from accompanying the team to yesterday's game, a 23-20 victory in overtime over the Jets at Giants Stadium. Before leaving Redskins Park on Saturday, coaches informed Lloyd, who has only two catches this season, that he would be inactive against the Jets. They then sent him home. "I felt like it was best for the team," Joe Gibbs said.

This guy has been a cocky punk since he was in San Fran. He made one great catch for that team, then decided he was among the elite receivers in the league and started acting like a prima donna. The Skins fell for his act, and signed him, and this is what they get. That's why you should do your homework before signing players to big(ger) contracts.

Yip, the Redskins try every year to buy themselves a Superbowl team and regularly overpay guys who don't deserve to be shown the money. Enter, Brandon Lloyd...an NFL Has Been before he ever had the chance to be........................Oh well, I wonder how long before Tampa Bay brings him in for a work out...............

Llyod is a Bum. Randel El is playing pretty well though.

November 5, 2007  08:18 AM ET

they need to rid themselves of all the under achievers and get some new young blood in there that want to play ball and win!!

November 5, 2007  08:34 AM ET

From what I heard, the Skins made the mistake of signing him without doing any face to face interviews first. Lloyd will now have even more time to work on his rapper career and modeling career.

They gave up a third and a fourth rounder for the guy......hmmm?

November 5, 2007  09:24 AM ET

November 5, 2007  10:41 AM ET

Cut him. It's long overdue.

November 5, 2007  11:00 AM ET

Good job, Joe. As a Jets fan (please don't hold that agains me!), I ask--Couldn't you have left a few more people home? Or maybe it wouldn't have mattered anyhow.......

November 5, 2007  11:28 AM ET

Joe knows how to deal with hot heads, after all he is Tony Stewarts' car owner

I never thought he was a bad guy. But his on the field production speaks for itself. He's been a total bust in our system - cut his a.ss!

The Redskins have to rid themselves of individuals who think they are the backbone of the team and then findout later these individuals can't hold a candle to those who are getting paid less but are putting out more.

Reality of it all, the Redskins core unit is the backbone of the team, and those who want to be with the Redskins need to start earning their paychecks or start paying money back to the team. Brandon Lloyd is not the only member of the team to think they are above it all, might as well throw Clinton Portis into the mix as well. The reason the word "team" doesn't have an "I" in it, is because it takes all members to come together as a team. The human body has parts, but the parts are nothing without the entire body functioning together, and that is also true of Sports Teams. Whether it is baseball, football, basketball, hockey, or soccer, no professional player is any better than the other members of the team if they are not working together for the same cause. The needs of the many, far outweigh the needs of the few. A 5-3 record so far, shows the team has potential, but that potential means nothing if the members don't agree they want the same thing. Those who don't contribute, then perhaps it is best that the Redskins make their contribution to unemployment by getting rid of players who don't want to be there, but also at the same time, make the players return money they have not earned based on the terms of their contractual agreements.
