Red Sox prevent Crawford trade to Yankees

I wonder if the Angels would have dealt Napoli to Toronto had they known the Jays would trade him to their division rivals. Napoli could have a really nice year playing in Arlington.

Dont get me wrong i would love crawford on the Yanks, but you did us a favor with the clause. just because Boston over paid for a basestealing machine doesnt mean the rest of the league wants to. Be real .296 career ba, 12 hr a year not worth 142 million.

If a player makes your team better, then why would you care what your team pays for him? Carl Crawford makes any team he goes to a better team. He would have been a great pick up for the Yankees, who could have then traded Gardner or Granderson for a pitcher.

How do you know that? Do you have Cashman's office bugged? Any free agent the Yankees don't get, they just claim that they never really wanted him in the first place. Cliff Lee may be the one exception and even then most Yank homers said that if was "for the best" because it was too much money anyway. I agree that Crawford was overrated despite being a good/very good player. But don't just assume that the Yanks didn't want Crawford. Maybe they did...maybe they didn't. But neither you nor I or anybody else here knows for sure

Not to mention that if the Yanks had offered a similar contract to Crawford before the Red Sox. then he would be a Yankee....he never said he didn't want to play in NY

That's just the typical Yankee response to any move made by Boston. " We didn't want him anyway" You can bet if they knew Lee wasn't coming, they would have been all over Crawford. That's why Boston moved quickly, before Lee was off the board.

Bro It was just my opinion. I though Lee would be there for sure. I never thought about Crawford that much.
