10:29 AM ET 01.30 | Devils LW Zach Parise, out the past three months following knee surgery, hopes to return to play in the next month. But will he do it in a New Jersey uniform? Parise, a pending restricted free agent who has a $3.25-million US cap hit, is expected to play before the end of the season and if he goes on the trade block at the deadline, there will be several contenders interested.

Sure, sign Kovalchuk and trade Parise...Makes sense to me!

Most guys coming back from serious knee surgery are like watching a three legged cat trying to bury a turd. They may get the job done but it won't be pretty.

I have been to N.J. it ain't pretty. Hey Canuck, I'm trying to eat here :)

If the cat's using a litter box they do look a bit like Almond Roca. ;-)

The cats around here don't use a box, they hang their butts over the block wall

How much trouble is the NHL really in if a team can't take a cap hit of $3.25 million? This would be chump change in the NFL, NBA and MLB. One word. Get a new commish!

Hey Zach, two words. New York.

Many of us have wished for just that since February 2, 1993.

Didn't know you had a part time gig at Fox News, Hank.

Hello Hankela ! They would be BEST served by killing ALL the crap - which would of course, start with Mr 'tiny-perfect'.

Of course they do. He is a "restricted" FA. They have options. Their best option is to keep him.

Don't bother Hank! He's on the edge of his seat, watching the All Star game.

if Parise says that he aint coming back (which is what anyone with a brain would be doing at this point), then there is no sense in not trading him. If I was a team interested in signing him long term then I would definitely give up some merchandise on trade day to get him. There'll be alot of teams vying for this guy on July 1st, so if I wanted him I'd do my absolute best to lure him while he's playing for me (hopefully while going on a good run in the playoffs). He seems like a kid that wants to win above all else, so if he gets traded to a competitor and they are serious about locking him up long-term it may be sufficient.
