08:01 AM ET 01.31 | Though speculation had it that the 49ers would find their 2011 quarterback by way of the draft, free agency or trade, Jim Harbaugh added another option in a radio appearance. Harbaugh raised a fourth option -- retaining a current quarterback, in particular, Alex Smith. "I've been studying Alex Smith and watching him," Harbaugh said. ... "And I believe that Alex Smith can be a winning quarterback in the National Football League. I'm excited to work with him, get to know him."

Jim is like a guy who just bought a used car. he thinks it's great until he starts driving it.

In the NFC West, you can get to the playoffs without being a winner, right? So, what's so important about being a winner?

January 31, 2011  08:11 AM ET

If Captain Comeback says so, he must see something in him.

In San Francisco, when somebody throws you under the bus, it's because they need you to fix the transmission.

Didn't know that Jed could be that persuasive.

Interesting point. Or Bow Wow, or any other canine named rap "star".

Are you kidding me? Have you watched any of the games he played in?

Exactly!

What else do you expect him to say. My team stinks, the ownership is a joke and the only good thing I can say about S.F. is that it isn't Oakland!

The last coupla coaches that thought Smith could make a QB are now former coaches for that very reason.
