08:23 AM ET 01.31 | Polls with large fields often split results enough to muddy the idea of a clear-cut winner ... which was not the case when NHL players were recently asked which team they would least like to play on: The No. 1 answer received 27 percent of the vote, while No. 2 received 20 percent. No surprise that the New York Islanders and Edmonton Oilers are tops in this category. They haven't produced a winner in some time and both franchises are chasing new buildings.

How times have changed.

with the Isle you are talking about bad building, bad ownership, coaching changes - and the team likely to be moved in a few years

January 31, 2011  08:47 AM ET

Those questions were asked to Oilers and Islanders!

It's not surprising really. Who what's to play where there's a lot of Snow?

January 31, 2011  09:39 AM ET

And in the same poll Rotten Ronnie Wilson was "selected" as the coach they would leastlikely want to play for. He beat out Torts by a wide margin.

The Islanders coulnd't fill their poor excuse for an arena, even with 2 beers & 2 corn dogs for $4 night...

Mike Keenan must not have been included in the poll

The Islanders have a hard time half filling their poor excuse of an arena, even with "2 beers & 2 corndogs for $4" night...

think back to the early/mid 80's - the idea that the Oil and the Islanders - the Cup Dynasty teams would now be in this "state"

I was also not aware that Edmonton's arena was in bad shape

I think the Oilers and Islanders play in the two oldest arena's left in the league.

Surprisingly he was. I think he was 5th. So you know Wilson's setting the bar really high.

It isn't really. It's just ancient, outlived it's suggested lifespan. And dead on about the 80s teams. Really sad state for two teams that combined won more cups than stadium-fillers like Philly, Toronto, Boston, Chicago, NYR, Vancouver, Buffalo, etc. have nearly won combined since expansion.

Many pros. But one big con: You gotta live in Edmonton. A friend currently living there had this status on Facebook this morning: "Hooray for -35." Nuff said.
