06:42 AM ET 11.06 | After the loss to Grand Valley State, Michigan State Tom Izzo decided to temporarily kick the players out of their brand-new locker room. Members of the media got to see the Spartans' new digs after the game and they look better than some NBA locker rooms, complete with comfortable couches, a high-tech television with a video-game system and a kitchen area. "I just look at that as, you earn the right to have something that nice, and we didn't earn the right," Izzo said. "I just said that, make sure that everything including the toothbrushes are out of there." Over the last few days, players have dressed in the weight room, or in hallways. Izzo said he'll decide when to let them back in based on their practice or game-time performance.

He let them off easy.

I wonder if he stopped driving that brand new 2007 Chevy Tahoe he got from the school after the loss..." you earn the right to have something that nice"

They need a wakeup call or it will be a long season. Great coach...He cannot shoot or play defense. He had them ready.. they played bad and looked bored.

Watch it Izzo, you might make one of these spoiled college atheletes mad......Atheletes are babied so much now in High School and all thru college. Is it any wonder they act like they do if and when they turn pro!!!!

Izzo should have remembered to have gotten the booster checks to the players BEFORE the game. Hence, they weren't properly motivated to play. Believe me, it won't happen again. The kids will get their money a few days before each game.

Haha...a Michigan fan talking about booster kickbacks. That's like Jenna Jameson preaching abstinence. I laugh but the scandals that surround Michigan basketball are sickening - that program (I use the term loosely) should have gotten the death penalty.

Good for Coach! Kids are too spoiled today anyhow. Make them earn it at least a little!!!!

Warden--Remember the Fab Five? O no! They never existed!!! Don't point fingers when your hand isn't clean? Buckeyes have had their problems too. Jim O'Brien was clean????

November 6, 2007  10:12 AM ET

Great move, but they never should of had NBA style locker room in the first place cuz its obviously going to just make them soft.

November 6, 2007  10:47 AM ET

He should have brought in port-o-crappers straight from the football tailgater lots and made them dress there

November 6, 2007  11:13 AM ET

Gotta love the guy. All this for losing a meaningless exhibition game. Expect no less than a Sweet 16 appearence from this bunch come March.

Maybe Dantonio will follow suit and kick the football team off East Lansing. I am sure the folks in South Bend wouldn't mind having the cast off Spartans... ;)

November 6, 2007  11:17 AM ET

This is not news...he has done this before..

November 6, 2007  11:24 AM ET

To respond to a couple of Michigan haters up there a few posts above me, they can strip Michigan of their banners and their victories back then, but the fact is, they were there, they were great, and they earned every last victory they had! We can laugh at MSU for losing to Grambling State in basketball, because that's just like when Michigan lost to Appalachin State in football. Also, about winning football games, Michigan is ranked, and they sure as hell are better than Michigan State. Michigan State can have their basketball be better than Michigan... oh wait, they lost to Grambling State.

"but your an idiot..."

Never fails. I love these comments.

LendaleUSC06 I know you not chriping about kickbacks either. Does Reggie Bush Mean anything to you!!!! It will be found out that he and his folks took money to live in that swanky mansion the few years he attended USC. Can you say bye-bye Heisman, bye-bye wins, and OOPs bye-bye national championships. Your boy is a fraud and so is your school. What kind of Ford can stop a trojan. A STANFORD!!!!!!!! Deal with it!!!!

Who gives a #$%^ about an exhibition game? It will probably provide some good fodder for Izzo when they start cruising through their schedule. If the big men come around it is back to the Final Four.

Go Green!

Grambling State??? Check your facts then come up with something intelligent to say.

I agree with mr. arted. That is pretty sad. Most of all, Izzo probably just was working on a new high score on his video game, and didn't want people walking in front of him anymore.
