08:21 AM ET 01.31 | The fact there will likely not be a single five-star recruit at Minnesota doesn't bother Jerry Kill. The new Gophers coach isn't merely dismissive of the various rating systems that attempt to make a science out of guesswork over how teenagers will perform three or four years from now, he's practically hostile toward them. "We don't pay any attention to that, to 'he's the 14th-rated tight end' or something. I know some people do," Kill said. ... "I don't care how many stars you have behind your name," Kill said ...

He's not used to having five star guys anyway...but he wasn't playing against people that had five star guys either. New environment dude.

Time to suite up Goldy and start serving beer at the stadium, its the only way your going to get anyone to a gopher game.

Whats bad is they are losing players to TSUN...maybe it will not be a problem and might show a defect in TSUN ability to recruit!

It's a smoke and mirror approach to what he is actually saying. 5 star guys aren't coming here and maybe 4 star guys too.

I don't think it's "smoke and mirrors" so mach as being realistic about your expectations. After the boastful Brewster, Kill knows that the program needs major rebuilding, both in talent, drive and getting fans just plain interested in the program again. I think Kill has what it takes to get the Gophers back to the middle of the pack as during the Mason years. I think the goal is not so much as to reach Ohio State status, but to get to the point where the program is solid enough were they can...even if only occasionally, get a shot in the Big Ten, like so many others in that conference.

It's just coach speak to lower expectations.

Kill needs to recruit heavily in Texas. There's a plethora of talent down here.

That would be road Kill.

You think Texas kids want to go to Minny to play ball? I just don't see it.
