Mettenberger to have Newton effect at LSU?

08:27 AM ET 02.01 | LSU will enter 2011 with some great expectations, even if senior Jordan Jefferson is considered a question mark. That's where Zach Mettenberger comes in. He's a 6-foot-5, 245-pound quarterback from Butler County CC in El Dorado, Kan., who already has signed with the Tigers and will go through spring practice. Mettenberger, who began his career at Georgia in the same signing class as Aaron Murray, is the highest-ranked JC quarterback in the nation. LSU certainly wouldn't mind if he had the same type of impact as the No. 1 JC quarterback in the nation in 2010. That, of course, was Cameron Newton, who also began his career at an SEC East school (Florida) before moving on to a JC and signing with an SEC West school.

QUOTE(#4):

He signed w/ UGAly out of HS, big time QB and mom worked there.. Murray and him redshirted, They was battling for the job when Mett decided to grab some TnA after partying... I think he also got a DUI previously..

That and he lied to Richt about it which is why he got the boot.

Did they get that behavior out of him or at least under control in Kansas LUS? If not, La press will have a field day.

If he's had problems withstanding the temptations of booze and women in the past, he's gonna be in for some serious temptation as a Tiger. Hope he's used his time in the Kansas JUCO to get a handle on that stuff.

LUS, you got a good Compliance Officer that can lock this kid down, or at least shadow his a55 wherever he goes offcampus...?

Mett played the spring came at UGA last year. Looked REAL good; smoked Murray. We're happy with Murray, but Mett's a good one. Elite 11 QB out HS.
