Beckett's disaster? Francona has a theory

Red Sox need Beckett back to being lights out this year...2 weeks till they report to spring training - cannot wait.

Terry Francona is asking Josh Beckett to be himself, which means wearing Pippy Longstocking socks, assless chaps, a tutu, his Red Sox jersey and a tiara on the mound.

Has this guy ever been lights out? What one year in his 10-12 years, maybe?

... what Francona stated doesn't seem logical.

Also, doesn't explain his bad year in 2006 when Buccholz was in the minors and Lester was not a top notch pitcher at the time.

It's probably best to say "he's recovered in the past, if healthy, we expect Josh to peform well this year...".

Keep it simple.

He was good in 2007 during the regular season...

... possibly "lights out" during the playoffs that year.

But, has not been consistent throughout his entire career.

He is odd. Even his better years were on the odd numbered years. (Well, let's not count when he was in the NL.) So they got him ready for this odd numbered year, 2011?
