08:24 AM ET 02.01 | Saying Texas fans were going to have to put up with him for a long time, Mack Brown is in the midst of overhauling the Longhorns. Brown said Monday he will change more than the six new coaches on his staff in an effort to rid his program of an atmosphere of "arrogance" and "entitlement" that contributed to last year's 5-7 record. Brown said he's changing his approach because those ideas trickled down from the top. "At one point, I must have thought that, because we're Texas and we'd won so much, we're just going to win," Brown said. ... Brown also blamed himself for spending too much of last year's offseason "pouting" about Texas' 37-21 loss to Alabama in the BCS National Championship Game that capped the 2009 season. Doing so, Brown said, set a poor tone for the team. "I don't know that I've ever taken a loss as hard," Brown said.

First step in the recovery program.

'Tis, Piratey. I suppose the first step in fixing a problem is admitting of its existance. It's an honest move by Coach Brown.

Good point HM. Many seem to have the arrogance and entitlement MB is referencing whether intentional or not. I'm not sure it is intentional on their part but it may come in part as a by product of the payouts "to come to our palace and play"...IMHO.

+1, DC. I'm sure it exists with a lot of big programs. TOSU is not exempt here.

I'm not sure any of them do it intentionally though.

It exists in life, in general...

... anytime you're accustomed to obtaining something on a regular basis, human nature kicks in and you start to "expect" it sometimes more than work for it.

Exactly. Brian Kelly said when he first came into South Bend, he couldn't believe the amount of arrogance and entitlement that was in the Irish locker room. I think that was more of a product that fat dunce Charlie Weis because it sure as hell wasn't a product of wins...

Funny lol

Hopefully the players are reading into this too - strap it on and come to work!

How do the Lonfhorn faithful take this (JRM, HofS, Tex HSE, . . . )?

As much of a jerk Weis is, I don't think you can blame ND arrogance on him. That whole program had a sense of superiority before Weis ever got there.
