Girardi was the right man for the job. When he managed Florida, though, they were filled with young players and he may have given the impression that he's like Buck, but with the veterans on the Yanks, I don't see it happening. Girardi is too smart to ruffle feathers in the clubhouse; the Yanks have enough issues going on right now. This will be a crucial off season for the Yankees. Rivera looks like the only one who will return easily; Pettitte and Posada look more problematical. The Red Sox Nation is casting a large shadow over the Evil Empire. LMAO.

Oddly enough, Allstarz, when it's your team, you brush off negative remarks as mere "speculation, speculation."

When you go after Mitchell, his ties to the Red Sox, and The List, it's solid, critical reasoning.

upsatebosoxbabe, I think you need to go back and reread All Starz and everyone else's comments regarding Mitchell, etc... I do believe he and many others, including myself, went out of our way not to discredit Mitchells rep but rather to say there was a conflict of interest. Saying the possibility to leave yourself open to the underlying thought that since there is a prior or ongoing relationship with one of the groups involved and actually claiming there is impropriety are two different things.Therefore what you accuse All Starz, and by implication others like myself, of doing when you make the comments you just made are pure d wrong. I have not seen All Starz guilty of going after Mitchell at all. He may be a Yankee chauvinist but he is a fair Yankee chauvinist, much like myself.

Why do people kill Buck Showalter? He only lead the Yankees back to respectability and re-shaped the organization. He was a great talent evaluator in the Bronx, especially with bringing in character guys and cultivating the farm system. His teams overachieved in NY, they had the best record in the AL before the strike in 1994. I don't know why Buck gets such a bad rap, he's one of my favorite managers!

Mike, I loved the piece where Buck showed how to cork a bat. Did you see that? I am a Buck Showalter fan, but he needs to manage a young team, like the Marlins or Devil Rays, so he can show them how to be professionals and how to win. Then, he'll get fired for his efforts the year before they break through and someone else becomes the "genius" even after he got fired by the Mets, Braves and Cardinals.
