08:06 AM ET 02.02 | How long can an NFL season be? The league will have no trouble playing 18 or even more regular-season games if it can persuade the players to accept an expanded schedule, Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, said Tuesday. "It's something we certainly have had the ability to do," Jones said at a news conference in Arlington, Tex., the site of Super Bowl XLV. "We've had the ability to go to 22 games, had we wanted to as owners without anybody's approval. We haven't done that without the approval of players. Certainly, we want players to buy into what we do on a going-forward basis."

Don't do it, idiots. Do you want to make this sport like baseball, where a lot of games are meaningless?

Now we know Jerrah's going senile.

He looks like a wax figure in that picture.

Jerry... please - shut up.

The old CBA allowed owners to ask for a 22 game schedule. But, come on, players' careers would last 3 years.

Exactly. He's playing the bad cop that is trying to make the 18 game season the commish is offering look like a great deal.

The sunglasses don't help either.

Yo Jerry you know what else floats?

February 2, 2011  08:33 AM ET

Maybe the Cowboys would be willing to play 22 regular season games. That way they'd be tired when they made the playof... WHAT THE **** AM I SAYING?

Exactly, it's like any other negotiation. Ask for a lot more than what you really want, then you settle for less (but at the actual target).

Jones was just making a point. He basically said the owners can do whatever they want with the schedule without the players' approval. He threw the number 22 out there as an example. Read the actual quote rather than the moronic headline.

The players would never approve such a ridiculous proposal.
