Making his weekly appearance on WEEI, Patriots coach Bill Belichick put the kibosh on any thoughts of running back Corey Dillon returning to the team. Belichick said the decision boiled down to special teams, particularly the contributions of reserve running backs Heath Evans and Kyle Eckel.

They are on a perfect run, and just got past the biggest hurdle of the year. they can have it in cruise control the rest of the way to the playoffs now, and people asked him if he wants to tweek his lineup? Dumb question. Of course he said no. If an RB goes down, THEN ,aybe you think about it, but why would he right now?

even belichick knows dillion is a knucklehead

Why would he take a washed up back and mess up his run? Dillion just wants a ride on the gravy chain run..

November 6, 2007  08:55 AM ET

"It would be just for this season, just to assist his teammates in a time of need," he said. --quoted from a separate article.

It would have nothing to do with them being on a collision course with destiny and a Superbowl. I don't remember him being a 'team' player, just retiring because he didn't like splitting playing time.

Methinks you jumped off the bus a little too early. Its moving too fast for you to jump back on.

do they really need him? come on guys this is a team with a perfect record, still, this season. why mess with things that don't need fixin.

All BB said was that as of now we have 4 RBs for our system we don't need 5 RBs, but if one or more were to go down w/injury then BB would call Dillion it is just that simple. Nothing more nothing less!!

I am going to start righting these Truth & Rumors now...because I can be just as ambiguously misleading as anyone else. Here we go:

Belichick will NOT under go a s^e^x^ change operation according to doctors that have studied him on film. Dr. Jason McGuarezz was quoted as saying "Nope, no chance of him becoming a woman anytime soon. He's a bit to old to undergo that type of major surgery and besides, there are already entirely too many ugly women in this world to add one more".
Coach Belichick and the Patriots could not be reached for what some are now calling, Beli-CHICK Gate.

Bring Dillon back??? For what?

November 6, 2007  10:13 AM ET

Dillon doesnt deserve to come back to the Dolphins, let alone the Pats. Dillion's Pat success was do to the Pats, not him. He is not the Dillion of the Bengal years anymore.

November 6, 2007  10:42 AM ET

Dillion's refusal to HGH has gotten him in Belichick's dog house.

November 6, 2007  10:53 AM ET

Try again,

Dillon's refusal to take HGH has gotten him in Belichick's dog house.

packerfan24/7 it is comments like that that lead me to believe that you get beat up in bars on a regular basis.I don't usually go out of my way to comment to people like you but you are an idiot.

November 6, 2007  11:18 AM ET

Packerfan.. I love the pack but the pats are a great team and they have several great players. Love or hate many teams cheat.. that does not make it right but it is easy to hate the team that beats everyone else. The best way to show them now is to beat them.. until that time.. it is useless talk.

November 6, 2007  11:40 AM ET

Of course he's not gonna let him.The last time he was operatin the video camera,he kept getting shots of the cheerleaders, instead of the coach sending in the signals.

November 6, 2007  12:36 PM ET

Hortag, I disagree with you. Belichick would make a perfect woman. being that he already has NO heart and shows no mercy!

Oh yeah, I vote no on Dillon.

November 6, 2007  12:42 PM ET

Oh man Patriots finally got over the Romeo Crennel hump. Pats were 0-3 vs the Colts post-Crennel. Honestly it led me to believe that the only reason Pats beat the Colts all those times was the best defensive tandem of Romeo Crennel-Bill Belichick. Romeo Crennel will be missed as Pats defensive coordinator and they need to brign him back, lure him from the Dog Pound or Dog House or whatever the hell the Browns call themslves. Lets go Romeo Crennel, come back home to New England

It is, exactly what it is. With Faulk, Maroney, Evan and Eckel, they are OK at running back. With the way that Kyle Eckel was flying around on special teams in Indianapolis, he's sure to be on every game day roster.

No knock on Dillon, but time marches on. Now the loss of Sammy Morris could have an impact as the season wears on, especially if Maroney encounters any problems. Morris was playing really well while Maroney was out.

Did you see Belichick after the game on Sunday? Folks in NE, you have one disturbed man on your hands. He'd scare Freddy Krueger
