Cuban to Mets: Make a pitch

08:16 AM ET 02.03 | Mark Cuban may be done chasing MLB franchises, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't listen to an offer. If the Mets want to reach out to Cuban to sell him on the merits of owning a piece of their franchise, he'd be willing to listen. "On the Mets, I'm not gonna chase it, I'm not gonna call out [to them]. If they want to contact me, if they have an interest and they think I'd be a good owner, I'd take their call and I'd be more than happy to discuss it," Cuban said. ... Cuban, who has previously bid for ownership of the Chicago Cubs and Texas Rangers, said that he didn't want to be used as a pawn "to drive up the price" in the bidding process for the Mets. But he said he'd be willing to listen to someone in the organization if they wanted.

I would take making it to the post-season every year and not winning it all over never really making it or collapsing on your way into the post-season with a top 5 payroll.

id love to have this guy as an owner. as a jays fan, our ownership is run by a mega corporation who is only interested in turning a profit, with winning being a secondary consequence. this guy seems to have a genuine passion for the mavs and has done nothing but win (albeit not a championship) in dallas. Anyone remember the state of that franchise before he got there?
he's a great owner and it would be one of the best things to ever happen to the mets if he was able to gain a controlling stake with them.

Having lived in Big D for the last decade I can tell you Cuban is obnoxious and irritating and I wish he would just **** most of the time, but... separate the man from the owner. He's a great owner. He spends money, takes care of his players, markets well, and wants to win above all else. Look at the Mavs pre and post Cuban. Huge difference. And quite frankly the MLB ownership needs to be shaken up a bit. I think he would be great for MLB, I just don't want to have to listen to his mouth in public and see him in the dugout yelling at the ump.

If Minaya was still around they would've hired him on that alone.
Give us somebody that is hard nosed and passionate about baseball while being savy in the business world. I'm tired of these empty suits running sports teams and aren't really keen to what the real fan wants. Gotta believe.

I can't help but laugh at so many negative comments. As a couple of people have said, look at the Mavs pre and post Cuban if you want to know how he has done.
I can't stand Cuban as a person but I can't deny what he has done as the owner of the Mavs. He puts a competetive team on the floor year after year. He obviously wants to win or he wouldn't be spending cash hand over fist.

that does not neccesarily translate to baseball...different business. ask hicks how his transition went. and he has been a problem to the NDA as a league. He has been a problem to his business associates...
