08:12 AM ET 02.05 | Mike Singletary was fired as head coach of the San Francisco 49ers late last season, but he feels he is a better coach after the experience. And what if that coaching opportunity were to present itself someday with the Bears? "You know what: You never know what the Lord's going to do," Singletary said. "As amazing as it seems ... I mean, in my mind, as close as we got in San Francisco to really building something ... it's just one of those things where you never know what's going to happen. Certainly this year is an amazing year to me. But you just never know where you are going to end up. Keep all options open."

HC? Are you ****'n nuts?

Keep waiting on the Lord, Mike. You never know where superstition can lead you.

Just how close does he think he got in San Francisco?

A story desperately searching for fact!

He might get another chance in the future, but he'll probably have to establish himself as a legit DC before that happens.

Suckers! LoL
Nuts? Got to be a joke, really just look what he did with SF 49ers.
Drop pants Sing, drop the act too

Yep. The last thing the Bears need is him. Their defense is doing very well as it is. Why mess with it?

Boy, Lovie just cannot get any love. For once I'd like to see the man actually lose his cool and start tellin' some of these hacks to back the #### off already... Time for him to find his inner Dennis Green and let it loose. Doesn't matter if the intention of the article is way off in the future, it is still disrespectful. They need to discuss WR, not Head Coach. Not even sure why I even care. I guess I respect a guy making things work the best he can with what little he has... I'm suprised he wasn't considered COY material after taking a 30th ranked offense to hosting the NFCCG.

Singletary is a walking embodiment of the Peter Principle.

Singletary will hopefully go back to being a good position coach. I don't think he has the "big picture" capability to be a head coach. Being driven by emotion can work if you're strictly coaching linebackers. That won't get it done even at the coordinator level though.

February 5, 2011  10:26 AM ET

Singletary needs to go local, like high school coach, look how he belittled SF QBs on sidelines.
Thats no way to coach pro players, Nothing wrong with Bears defense, Oh Lovey!

Agree 100%. And as a Vikings fan I think this is a great idea.

Agreed, he was over his head as a HC. Get some DC experience then earn his way back, or not!

As a 49er fan, I give 100% of my blessings to the Bears to make this happen.
