Europe expansion behind 18-game schedule?

10:42 AM ET 02.06 | Based on conversations last week, it's not difficult to see what the NFL's long-term plan is: a conference in Europe and other places. That's why it is pushing so hard for more regular-season games overseas, especially once the CBA is done. It wants to establish a base for the game and then put teams over there, likely decades down the line. The idea is to make it a true world game.

The European indulgence is a fantasy. It won't work. The European Football is not even on par with top College teams. Sure on occasion a guy goes there, improves and makes an impact in the NFL but overall it is filled with 4-5th tier guys. Living overseas is not for everyone, players and their families would not dig it.
Every year we endure the West Coast teams playing early games on the East coast debate, now they want to send teams to Europe as well, and I assume bring those teams to play here? Redonkulous

If Europe wants American Football they can start their own league.

Watch "Damn United" on Netflix last night. Pretty good flic about coaching, GMs, and large Egos. I kept inserting J Jones and J Johnson and Barry Switzer in the film and it was suitable for NFL as well.

Just like they can play "Soccer" here in this country all they want we will only look at it as a novelty and vice versa regarding our NFL football over there. Don't forget Rugby has a huge following in Europe and is International all the way to South Africa and New Zealand. Good luck shoe horning NFL ball into that.

This has possibilities. I can see it now: The London Bridges. But the only thing they do is run on the left and pass on the right. Easy to defend.

It's only about 6 hours earlier the east coast time. You'd have to get up pretty early if you're on the west coast to watch a 1 pm start time.

Is that a pun that they won't be satisfied until they are playing in March? Maybe it will be like hockey? 10 month a year?

I remember as a kid watching the original "RollerBall" with James Caan and seeing them travel all over the world to play (and die) and thinking with the Time Zone thing it wouldn't be possible. Maybe Goodell sits in his office with Jerry and watches the RollerBall movie over and over?
