Iconic Caray statue defaced

08:28 AM ET 02.07 | Neither the scribblings nor the message made much sense. No one is quite sure when the statue of Hall of Fame broadcaster Harry Caray outside Wrigley Field was defaced. Even more elusive was what the graffiti tagger might have been trying to say. Someone spray painted the words "Sox" on the base, as well as a second, not-quite-intelligible word. ... The Cubs responded by removing most of the white spray paint, team spokesman Peter Chase said. While no police report had been filed as of [Sunday night], one could be filed by Monday, Chase said.

Mushmouth Caray was "faced" every time he was near an open mic so why not his statue?

Holy cow!

His statue should be shipped to St. Louis, after all... he was a cardinal fan.

Truth. I know some Cub fans though, that get irate when I tell them that Harry was always a Cardinal fan.

"They're not sure what they were trying to say?" Are you kidding me? Who wrote this article? I would wager a large amount that graffiti punks don't dabble in double entendre.

I guess that depends on what the unintelligible word was...

Most? What was the part they kept, Sox or the unintelligible word?

February 8, 2011  10:17 AM ET

A despicable, dastardly deed.

That would explain the "not-quite-intelligible" part.
