08:30 AM ET 02.07 | Between starring in a documentary, playing basketball games, attending football banquets and pondering the matter of a little decision about his football future, Jadeveon Clowney is a busy young man. Clowney's coach at South Pointe, Bobby Carroll, talked on the phone Saturday with Clowney, who has yet to sign with a college, and Carroll confirmed that Alabama is not as strong with Clowney at this point. "It's not because of Alabama's legacy or anything like that," Carroll said. "It's the proximity thing. He's just not sure he wants to make that long ride." South Carolina and Clemson are the top two with Clowney as of Saturday night, and as he has throughout this process, Carroll said again he feels Clowney is the Gamecocks' to lose. "That's what my gut feeling is," he said. "He's not saying a whole lot. I think he pretty much knows where he wants to go, though."

QUOTE(#2):

Has Bama given up on this one?

No. But I think Bama has always been kind of a long shot. Everyone knew he was a SC lean. Wherever he goes I wish him the best of luck and hope he turns out to be the superstar he has the potential to be.

Does he know that he doesn't have to ride the bus to school everyday when he starts college?

Alabama probably isn't as strong a candidate for him as earlier in his recruitment. From everything I'vce heard, he loves Alabama's coaches, the tradition, and the facilities, but the hometown pull is strong and like the article said, he doesn't want to travel too far.

I'll be surprised if he picks Alabama, but we still want him.

I was thinking the same thing...sometimes kids don't grow up if it is too convenient to run home and be with their high school buddies and family at the first inkling of homesickness. JMO.

I want him at Clemson...

Agreed. I have no desire to see him playing against the Vols year in and year out.

I was just wondering, why is a Commodore fan trying to get a good recruit to go to UTk, your in-state rival, like getting beat that bad or what?

I also found this curious.

Funny how everyone assumes he's this dominant force 7 months prior to playing his first down at the next level. When do we start treating our Jr. High kids like NFL stars?

Same format as 75% of comments on FN. Sarcasm with a dash of humor at your rivals expense.

So that's how this works? Oh man, i've been way off.

I think my Vandy friend is probably making fun of the fact that UTK is about to go down in a blaze of glory it seems. "Lack of institutional control" here we come!!
