Asomugha on Niners' radar

08:03 AM ET 02.09 | Just how much the 49ers are able to turn over their roster remains in question, but Nnamdi Asomugha is an intriguing consideration. He won't come cheap, and just about every team in the league could use him. However, I'd give the 49ers a better than 1-in-32 chance of landing him for the following reasons: 1.) Proximity -- he wouldn't have to move. 2.) Representation -- Asomugha's agent is Ben Dogra, who just worked out a long-term deal between the 49ers and another client, Patrick Willis. 3.) Coaching -- Vic Fangio's system promises to be similar to that of friend Dom Capers.

Nice place to play if you're not planning on playing football after your 16th game of the season.

I want to make a football comment here, but all I can think about is to brush and floss.

That's ok. Nnamdi is used to that.

Nnamdi would address the biggest weakness by far on the niners: their secondary. And unlike their last CB signing, Nnamdi is the real deal!

If the Niners are going to invest big money in a player, they should be thinking QB first. They need too much help to be chasing the big splashy free agents. Right, Dan Snyder?

Nate didn't work out like they thought so why have a zillion dollars invested at CB for one shutdown corner?

Every team wants him. Few teams have the combination of resources and willingness to sign him. Every fan hopes their team is one of them. I know I sure do.

Yep... I would getting this guy but I don't see it happening here.

Unfortunately a certain gm/owner thinks his secondary was just fine. REALLY?

<shakes head and shrugs shoulders...>

And Vegas has our heroes at 8-1 for the next Super Bowl... only behind the Packers and Patriots.

What the hell is that??? I know that they watch football but what did they see that I did not?

February 9, 2011  09:48 AM ET

Come to Dallas Bro.

are you serious? after that season and what their secondary looks like? they won't win the division. they must think Garrett is an amazing miracle worker, but I think not.

QUOTE(#12):

This would be a brilliant move for this team as it doesn't interfere in anyway with their goal of getting a stud QB and yet bolsters a weak secondary...

Spending $16 million a year on a guy who has touched the ball 3 times in the last 2 years interferes with anybody's ideas about bringing in "a stud QB" - you're not going to be able to afford both of them. Aso made more $ than Peyton Manning last year.

LOL - The Yorks and every other swinging dick's owner out there would love to have him too!
Yet I don't see any of THOSE names up here.
What the hell is it with this sites hard on for the 49ers? It really creeps me out.

Its gonna cost big bucks for one thing and dont under estimate Uncle Al in Oakland,
never one to be out done. I dont know, its a "IF" to me, Asomugha has lived up to his hype.
Who knows what a change of scenery will do for a player, stay turned...
