Auburn will look radically different in 2011

08:22 AM ET 02.10 | The SEC is full of intrigue heading into spring practice, and the defending national champions will offer their share of the headlines. Auburn had massive personnel losses on both sides of the ball. ... The reigning national champs are going to sport a radically different look. There will be a new quarterback, a revamped wide receiver corps, a rebuilt offensive line, a rebuilt defensive line, two new starting linebackers and two new starting defensive backs. Other than that ... . Obviously, finding some offensive playmakers is of the utmost importance. The defense was far from dominant this past season and should be shaky next season, too, so the Tigers will need to score a lot of points.

Cecil should have had more kids for sale.

They're not going to be great and they're not going to be plain terrible. Somewhere in between I would guess. However, I think people are under-estimating 2 things:

1.) The defense is going to be better. Roof rotated through everyone this year. Yes there's some big losses but there's plenty of experience coming back too. It is young but the talent level is higher on the whole.

2.) Cam is definitely the reason Auburn went undefeated and won the NCG, but Malzahn's system is based on exploiting what the defense gives him. Malzahn has the offensive tools he needs - speed on the edges and strength up the middle plus an accurate QB. But what he'll need is for the OL to outplay their experience. That's the question mark.

My guess is 8-4. Depending on how the ball bounces it could be 7-5 or 9-3. Definitely not 5-7 like Andre Ware seems to believe.

The question is will the new team feel like they are entitled? If this is the case you could see a 5-7 team.

The question is will they look any cleaner than last year?

that's a good point. i don't think Chizik will let that happen but it's only a feeling not based on anything.

key word there is "look". no one's accused them of anything yet. and by no one i don't include FN or any of the other fan blogs and message board but rather Kenny Rogers, the folks at MSU, and the NCAA.

i understand everyone's cynicism but i gotta defend them until we know for sure.

until you let go of this compulsion to reserve judgement until you know all the facts, you can never be a true FN player. Sorry, it's how we roll.

Well duh. You don't graduate two first rounders and a Heisman and not look different. Must really be a slow day in the newsroom.

i can't stand listening to Craig James as he sounds like a d*uche and is pretty pretentious but every once in awhile he makes sense.
