08:11 AM ET 02.10 | Since the summer, we have heard about Carmelo Anthony and the three-year, $65 million contract extension he hasn't signed, though very little from the man himself. [Anthony] gave his first indication Wednesday that he might sign a contract extension to stay with the team. ... Though Anthony has always said he was keeping his options open, he hadn't talked publicly about possibly signing until Wednesday. "As the days go on, that's something that I think about, that nothing might happen, that I'll be here, whether I have to deal with the free-agency market or re-sign the extension here with the Nuggets," he said. Asked specifically to clarify whether he might sign the extension if not traded, Anthony said, "Yeah."

Well then I guess its all about the $$$ for MELO .... $83m, his last year of his contact, next season $18.5m, + the Extension for 3 more years at $65m ..... vs doing a LBJ and taking a pay cut $14.5m to play with other FA's

This is what we like to call in the business as Double speak....

Melo is no Lebron, its about the money first then where he is playing at.

QUOTE(#4):

He's after the money. He doesn't want to be in Denver. And who can blame him? This entire thing has shown the Nuggets to be idiots who have no idea what they're doing. With this regime, does anyone really expect them to be able to build a title team?

How are the Nuggets idiots ..... cause they turn down the NY trade ... a first round pick from MINNY either Utah or Memhpis which would be at the best 18th pick, and an IR / Pothead Chandler for MELO ....

its the same with the NETS picks, only 6 games out of the Playoffs, so after the trade the picks are all going to be 15th or higher ... not of much value

That may be true, but $65 million should make Denver tolerable--at least for the next 3 years. The question is; how much of that will he be willing to sacrifice to change his address?

How much money does one need? Is making 18.5 million a year not enough? These guys really need a reality check.

he is just letting fans know he keeping his options open, but he said if he not traded he would take a hard look so preety much hes not counting Denver out. "Melo is no lebron, its about the money first" lebron left Cleveland for money he took less on contract yes but he getting more than that now hes in Miami.

Did you read CP3's comments in Newark lastnight. Money don't mean a thing to them superstars. If Denver is stupid enough to think Melo will consider the extension they're fooling themselves. He has 18mil player option so even if he doesn't sign he can stay in Denver one more season. But I think he'll dumb Denver into waiting and he'll leave and join Knicks. That's some loyalty to his roots. He'a already won a championship for Syracus....
