08:08 AM ET 02.11 | With an awful 2010 behind the Panthers, might they be turning to a future that doesn't include Steve Smith? Smith, who'll turn 32 this summer, discussed the possibility of being traded with team owner Jerry Richardson this past season, according to two league sources. ... While general manager Marty Hurney wouldn't discuss any private conversations the Panthers have had with Smith or his agent, he did acknowledge the team's star receiver is extremely frustrated. "I think Steve is probably not unlike everybody in the building ... he was not happy with 2-14," Hurney said.

Why would he want to stay? They aren't going anywhere for a while.

The poor guy just wants a real QB to throw to him. And new teammates to beat up during practice.

A team with a need at WR could do far worse than grab this guy...

Word! We may loose Santana Moss, and he could fill in nicely. Those Panther quarterbacks were too inexperienced.

And the Redskins are much better at qb?

February 11, 2011  08:25 AM ET

I can think of a lot of teams that could use him. and if Driver retires one in particular.

Patriots can give them back #1 pick in the second round [33] and they can take Smith off their hands. Actually not a bad idea.

Hell yeah, compaired to three rookies.

Has he ever had a real QB throwing to him???

Come to Indy, Smith! We could use a fast receiver that can actually CATCH!!!

Smith has two years left on the end of a $43 million contract. He is one of the highest paid wR in the game.
No way do the Packers pick up that contract at 32 for this guy. Or a lot of other teams.

Garcon seemed like a one year wonder.

Snyder, Jones and Davis ... oh my ...

February 11, 2011  08:35 AM ET

He can replace Roy Williams! Then again...most WR's could replace Roy. Eh!

Not until they develop Jimmy Clausen some more anyway.

The three NFL stoogies.

He isn't worth a 2nd rounder and the first pick in the second round at that. I'd say a a 3rd or a 4th and something would be reasonable

I did enjoy him torching Cromartie during our playoff game against the Jets. He just does not do that consistently enough. And the routine passes he drops are maddening!

Good one:

Not a bad trade to make but not sure what kind of value he has. And the CBA is frustrating a lot of things.
