Chicago is ... no longer Cubs' kind of town

08:19 AM ET 02.11 | In the event the Cubs' offseason moves don't pan out, they run the risk of falling further out of favor. It was a nice little run for the North Side. There was drama, Sammy Sosa's hop and then flop, a sold-out ballpark/museum on a daily basis, a fall guy named Bartman and even a few wins and division titles thrown in along the way. But it's over. It's a Cubs town no more. Beginning next week and playing out all summer long, the only relevant baseball team in New Gotham is at 35th and Shields. Yes, for the first time in decades, this town belongs to the White Sox.

Let's wait for the attendance records before making proclaiming it the White Sox' town.

What? Last year the Cubs averaged 10,000 more at home games and 6,000 on the road and had almost a million more in attendance than the White Sox.
Until the fans throw their money down, this is a writers fantasy.

What an odd post. It really depends on the criteria you're using to define whose "town" it is. This certainly isn't in the first time "in decades" that, going into a season, the White Sox have been favored to win more games than the Cubs. And that certainly doesn't mean thousands of Cubs fans are going to jump ship to the Sox just because the South Siders have a legit shot at winning their division (which they do). This is just another lame attempt by the mainstream media to hype up a rivalry that really does just fine on its own.

I like Chicago ... fun town for sure ...

This was probably from Joe Cowley who is prob the worst writer in Chicago.

The fans will keep coming to Wrigley as long there are day games because they treat the experience like it's happy hour.

Yep it was Joe Cowley. The only person I hate more in sports then him is Joe Buck.

Chicago belongs to the White Sox? They must have stolen it.

I am going to be in Chicago the weekend of April 16th. I was very upset to see the Cubs are not home, but the White Sox are... I really wanted to go back to Wrigley
