09:30 AM ET 02.12 | If general manager Stan Bowman has his way, newcomer Michael Frolik won't be the only addition to the Blackhawks for the stretch run of the regular season. Bowman said Friday he's working the phones in an effort to bolster the blue line after landing forward Frolik in a trade with the Panthers on Wednesday night.

The Blackhawks, who won the Stanley Cup in 2010 and dumped most of their talent suddenly finds themselves in need of the very talent they gave away.

No Cup for you this year.

It's all Philly.......

February 12, 2011  09:35 AM ET

I can think of a couple they used to have...One in Minny and one in Hotlanta who doubles as a pretty good forward.

I'm hijacking this thread. There's far more interesting things in the NHL.
Perhaps this....

Agree. These Hawks are a far cry from last year's team. Their biggest mistake was getting rid of Big Buff. Sure, he didn't put up huge numbers but, he's a versatile player who made it much easier for the other Hawks to do their thing. A guy like Buff creates a lot of space for squirts like Kane and wreaks havoc in front of the net.

Don't forget the one in T*****o who forgets to wash his expensive Audi very often. He wasn't too shaby for the Hawks either.

I watched this part live, alot of free-for-alls seem to be breaking out lately. The announcers were complaining that nobody on the Wings would fight last night.

Oh! Thank goodness! I thought you were about to make Hank's day and ruin ours.

Does this mean that ol' time hockey is making a comeback?

Canuck. I thought that was a disgusting excuse of a hockey match. Both sides have a lot to be ashamed of. Since I'm a Pens fan, I'll point out Martin sucker punching Talbot and Gillie beating on Tangradi when Tangradi was doubled over from the cheap shot he just got. I know they wanted Talbot for that hit on Comeau (sp?) the last game, but to sucker punch someone? Totally gutless. I don't know what Tangradi did, but I'm sure that Gillie is feeling all kinds of masculine today.

I'm just waiting for the official suspensions to come out. I'm sure the Pens are going to be totally screwed after that.

Listening to these two Pittsburgh announcers was painful.

I know what you mean. In years passed they have always been pretty even handed. Sometimes even sticking up for the reffs on questionable calls against the Pens. Last night though they were total homers. It was almost as bad as listening to a Flyers broadcast on Comcast Philly.

What a cluster ^*^% last night. If the wanted revenge, no doubt they got it on Johnny on the score sheet. Would have been lovely if he had showed up to play, but I would imagine he was a bit on edge.

Something I don't understand? Why the thirst for revenge? Didn't DiPietro kind of challenge Johnny to that fight in the previous game, or at least instigate? He's no innocent. So what if Fleury laughed? He laughed, no doubt, that Johnny fought, no that DiPietro got hurt. He came out to meet him. Where is the accountability on the NYI's part. They acted like Johnny sucker-punched DiPietro, and they needed to take revenge all night on the Pens with dirty ****.

You will have fights, the score was what it was, but I didn't get what happened to Tangradi. He didn't have anything to do with the previous game, and I didn't like him being beat up after he was hit, and then taunted afterwards. Class. The sucker punch on Max? Because of a hit in the previous game? Hit wasn't dirty. Might have caused injury, but wasn't dirty (hmm, haven't we heard that before?), so you sucker punch him, or try to? Class.

I have no problem what Godard did, even though it will result in a 10-gamer. They all probably got to a point where "enough is enough." That was simply ridiculous. He was told to go to the penalty box, and he skated around for more Pens to beat up. But Johnny is no bi-tch like DiPietro. I just wish Johnny or Godard could have inflicted more damage to that punk.

I hope suspensions are given out left and right for that game. Although, I have a feeling, they won't be. This was not like the Boston/Montreal game. That was a game between rivals, where the opponent(s) fighters knew they were fighting and not taking shots. Last night's game was a bunch of crybaby/**** taking revenge and cheap shots, cause their goaltender caused his own fate.

New York Islanders - The Trash of the NHL

It's a shame really, cause they have some decent players on that team

If people don't want to listen to them, don't. So what if they are HOMERS sometimes, um, I would imagine there are reasons they are.

Here are the reasons. Errey won a ring with the Pens and made a home/career here ever since. Steigey raised here and played hockey here. Both know their hockey though, both compliment other players on a regular basis, and I am always impressed how accurate Errey is with calls/questionable goals, etc.

If they were especially "homer" last night, hit the mute button. The game was f'in ridiculous. Sorry, if you didn't like them commenting on the fact that Tangradi was getting his **** beat after taking a elbow to the face.

For the record, I have watched games on Vs/NHL channel, etc. Some homers from other cities, as well. No different.

February 12, 2011  11:35 AM ET

Oh, and if Blackhawks want to give us a very decent scorer for Martin, I would be willing to listen. He has been less than stellar lately.

Getting back on track of the thread topic. ;)

I don't normally engage in this type of sniping DWI. But I have to say that, as long as the Pens keep sending that piece of head hunting dog **** Matt Cooke out to hurt people, you have no room to be calling anyone else in the NHL "trash." Not even Avery. That moron Bilsma can put a stop to Cooke's cowardly garbage right now, if he wanted to, but he won't because he's a few bricks short of a full load himself.

Oh, please with this **** about Matt Cooke. Don't want to hear another f'in word about that ****. Seriously. The Pens' sneeze, and someone brings up MATT COOKE. If teams want to head hunt Matt Cooke, head hunt MATT COOKE...not Tangradi! Give me a break.

Seriously. If that's a case, every damn player that takes a head hit/questionable hit, etc. on the Pens because of the excuse of Matt Cooke, well then, I hope Matt Cooke sends them into the boards. How's that? Stupid, childish, ****!

Other than Matt Cooke, we have a lot of damn good/clean (not perfect) players on our team.

Oh, and the New York Islanders?

TRASH!

I can tell you, I can't name one player on this team who would have sucker punched someone on another team, or started to beat on someone and then taunted while they were down probably with a concussion, including Matt Cooke. Damn, I don't even like the guy. I am not defending him, including my post above, which was sarcasm, but it seems silly to me to justify one team's actions because of one man's.

NYI - TRASH!

February 12, 2011  12:33 PM ET

Sounds like we're both getting frustrated over this "nonsense" about Cooke, DWI. Anytime anyone takes a cheap shot at a Pens player they always come back to Cooke. Truth is Cooke settled himself down since he took out Savard. That shot the other night was the exception and not the rule.

Agreed. All I'm saying is that as long as you have that cancer on your team, you're limited in your criticism of others. It doesn't take a lot of **** to pollute the well.
