Don't buy Cam Newton workout hype

10:01 AM ET 02.12 | What did you expect from Cam Newton yesterday in an orchestrated workout in front of the media? A show put on by his father that didn't include a single scout, coach or GM from the NFL. For a player that is projected as a top talent in the draft, what he did in shorts shouldn't come as a surprise. He looked the part according to reports, threw the ball like a pro QB and got the post workout reaction he wanted--complete with the extra hype. But that wasn't an NFL workout.

Cam Newton, the next Heismann winner to go in the 4th round.

Most of the analysts who watched this dog and pony show, compared his media workout to JaCarcass's...One even said the best workout he ever saw was Russell's. This guy is a huge question mark until you can see him in the pro huddle.

Who'da thunk his dad would put on a dog and pony show to pimp out his son?

Somebody will take a risk on him though.

I for one am shocked. Shocked!!

That Cecil Newton is a marketing genius....I hear they are taking the show on a 50 state marketing tour....

Cam is obviously a great athlete and has an above average arm. The only question is whether he can take the ball from center (he was in the shotgun all of the time at Auburn), do the correct footwork and go through the reads needed from an NFL QB.

He'll go earlier than the fourth round... because of his "potential". But whoever uses a high pick on him will regret it.

If he can get his dad off his back he might have a chance.

Buyer Beware!

Little Danny loves wasting picks, or just giving them away.

That also describes Ryan Leaf, JaMarcus Russell and Jeff George among others...As a college QB about to turn pro, that's certainly a group I would want to be included with.

How many scrambling/running QB's have won a Super Bowl since 1980. None. Wasted pick if drafted in the 1st or 2nd round.

Big Ben..
Aaron Rodgers

Neither are primary scramblers but both can. if Newton can go down that road..

Cam Newton= JaMarcus 2.0

The article stated: "A show put on by his "father" that didn't include a single scout". When in the hell is $Cecil going to stop acting like $Cam agent??

Whenever Cam grows a pair and tells him to back off.

$Cecil and $Cam remind me of Brian Bosworth as far as the marketing aspect of the game goes!!
