08:09 AM ET 02.14 | Mike Tice may be ready for a promotion, though perhaps not with the Bears. An NFL source said the Titans are interested in talking with Tice about becoming the offensive coordinator for new head coach Mike Munchak. It's unclear whether the Bears will grant permission for Tice to interview for the job as he has one more year on his contract. ... Bears coach Lovie Smith long has offered support for assistants when they have opportunities for advancement. Although moving from position coach to coordinator is a promotion, NFL teams are required only to grant permission if an assistant has an opportunity to become a head coach.

Tice's only problem was scalping Super Bowl tickets. he's a damn good coach.

First Moss at Tennessee, now Tice? Keep the faith, Daunte Culpepper!

The doormats of the AFC South are at it again.

As a head coach won a playoff game in Green Bay - Bears should keep him

Tough call. Teams have a gentlemens agreement to let their assistants move up with another team. Happens all the time. This time the coaches have already been told they will NOT get paid until a new CBA is agreed upon.
So, you are saying to a guy " We are not going to pay you and you cannot take another NFL job."
Could come back to kick you in the a##.

He was. And he did a nice job with Chicago's patchwork O-line this past season. Hard to picture him as an OC, though.

Bears need to keep him at all costs, he's a great oline coach and did a great job with their lack of talent

February 14, 2011  11:54 AM ET

Never thought I would see those 2 words in the same sentence. Though some can be great coaches but horrible head coaches. Oh well, I guess he's relevant again since he's on T&R.

WHY WOULD YOU WANT THIS MAN TO COACH ANYTHING? He was terrible as head coach of the Vikings. He has been the O-Line coach for the Bears the past few years....AND JAY CUTLER HAS BEEN SACKED MORE THAN ANYBODY IN THE NFL. What does that say about Tice. HE'S TERRIBLE.

he sure was - that 32-33 record speaks for itself

Tice is nice but why was Mike Heimerdinger fired anyway? I know that the Titans have had a terrible passing game the last few years but Chris Johnson rushed for 2K just a year ago. Get Well soon Heimerdinger.
