Steelers draft plans could overlook needs

08:12 AM ET 02.14 | When Kevin Colbert enters the draft thinking about the future, it's not just about the upcoming season. The Steelers' biggest needs looking at their 2010 season are cornerback and offensive tackle, but that does not mean they will automatically use their first two draft picks on those positions. It will depend on who is available to them when they draft or if they might be able to make a trade to move up to get a quality corner or tackle. Usually, there are neither of those in free agency without a stiff price tag, something the Steelers rarely indulge. "We never try to attack this thing for any one given year," Colbert said as a reminder.

Somehow I don't think the Steelers got where they are by "overlooking needs."

No kidding. Pouncy is a good example of how smart they are in the draft. Doesn't answer the question of how the interns got where they are, however.

It is reported this draft is loaded with " quality " corners. Three elite ones. They will be gone when the Steelers draft. And so may Ike.

You can never have enough good DB's in the NFL. You can be 4 deep at CB and still not be enough.

I don't see how the interns have a problem with Colbert and the Steelers draft picks. They seem to do very well overall, especially since they are usually picking toward the end of the first round with about 20 to 25 of the "elite "players already chosen. What a concept pick the best talent available!!!

They need some Defensive Backs. They don't have any really good corner backs and you never know when Ryan Clark or Polamalu will get hurt. O-line is tough too. They're of-injured and very old aside from Pouncey, who ended the season with a serious injury. FLOZELL ADAMS WILL NEVER BE A STARTING LEFT TACKLE people. Rebuilding the O-line is key.

A wide receiver would make a difference. Hines is not young.

I think get the matched set of Pounceys if you can. It would go a long way to anchor the O line
