08:26 AM ET 02.14 | The Phillies are understandably excited. Rich Dubee, the man with the enviable task of directing a dream pitching rotation, joked he was bringing a recliner to spring training to watch his Four Aces. "But we have to curb the excitement a little bit, too," Dubee said. "We still have to play baseball. I mean, we are absolutely thrilled with our starting rotation. You can't downplay that." Across the room, Brad Lidge tempered expectations for all of five seconds. "We all feel like we need to win the World Series this year," Lidge said.

Phillies will win the East. After that they will crumble and not get into the WS.

Why would you make a comment like that without actually backing it up? The Phillies already have one of the top, although inconsistent, lineups in the major leagues. Now, they have a pitching rotation that can balance the offense and possibly throw a sub-3.00 ERA for the entire season.

This team has the POTENTIAL to win it all and go down as one of the most dominant teams in MLB history.

Anyone but the Yanks or Sox works for me...

On a given day, good pitching defeats good hitting. Then again, 9 guys have to go out and play defense and hit, too. Philadelphia defenitely has the edge in pitching in the NLE, likely in the NL, also. But its a long season, and the injury bug embraces everyone.

If there was ever a comment that would draw Cain into the discussion....... this is definitely it

Hey, it's a great year if you're a Philly fan or a Boston fan....the rest of us are chasing and hoping for a chance and a little luck.

It's awesome that the Giants won the WS, but the Phils are the NL team with the target on their back. Fly under the radar boys.....under the radar.

So now everyone will be aiming for these Phillies. That is great. It will make it interesting if they don't get out to a fast start. They will be at each others throats like a bunch of wild animals.

World Series or bust. Its a long season, but anything less than a World Series victory is a failure. Its just the position this team is in right now. The Salary combined with the age of the players. People can say Boston is under the same pressure but they really aren't. Their core is much younger.

This team doesn't do that. Its much more professional.

Yep. but I'm guessing that if there IS a fight, Ryan Howard will not even get a swing off...

If he does he will miss anyway.

everybody likes to talk about the Phillies starting rotation ... one that couldn't get them past the Giants ... and the one major add ... lost twice to them in the WS ... so if the past is any indication ... it would look like they only got worse, not better ... but it's all speculation at this point ... let's play the games and see how it plays out ... k?
