Sabathia expected to opt out

08:26 AM ET 02.15 | It may be deja vu all over again in the Bronx, where the Yankees once endured a season's worth of talk about Alex Rodriguez's opt-out clause. ... CC Sabathia can opt out of the final four years and $92 million of his contract at the end of this season, and while he seemingly has no desire to go anywhere else, it's likely the big left-hander will tear up his contract next fall in search of one more massive payday. A source with knowledge of the situation said that barring a major injury or some unforeseen circumstance, Sabathia -- who is 40-15 with a 3.27 ERA in two years with the Yankees -- is expected to exercise the opt-out.

Don't hate on C.C. because the man is the stud of the Jankees' rotation. He deserves every million he inks with the 27 World Series champs.

It worked for A-Rod. Why won't it work for CC, especially when the Yankees need pitching much more than they needed hitting when A-Rod opted out.

Where can CC go? LA, Chicago, Boston or Philly. The Yankees train their players. Don't get mad when they respond normally to the training. What do you think? 4 years for 110?

Opt out and go where? And sign for how much more? How much more is he going to get than 4 years @ $92M

At the very least he could get another year or 2 added to his current deal. He is 2 years younger than Cliff Lee, who just received a 5 year deal for $120M. It would be a smart move on his part, provided he has a big year.

Good grief, Sabathia was never not going to exercise that option if he was in a postion to do so. As Michael Corleone said, it's strictly business. If he has another great year, he'll seek and receive an extension. If he bombs, gets hurt, well, the option sinks.
