08:06 AM ET 02.15 | Though Bills GM Buddy Nix remains a fan of Ryan Fitzpatrick, the Bills have reportedly talked about selecting Cam Newton. Nix has acknowledged the need to add a quarterback in the draft, although we know owner Ralph Wilson has said the team won't reach for a quarterback that isn't worthy of being selected at No. 3 overall. ... "I'm not so sure that the Bills are thinking their quarterback position is settled," Vic Carucci told fans in a chat session. "From everything I hear, GM Buddy Nix likes Newton a great deal, and the Bills might very well be inclined to take him in the No. 3 slot. Now, they also might be of the opinion they could wait to take him in the second round, and that might very well happen, too."

At least he will be getting paid to play over the table.

LOL! Might as well be going to Siberia.

JaMarcus lite - or is he the real deal?

February 15, 2011  08:22 AM ET

Though I'm not real high on the guy, Fitzgerald is a servicable QB that played very well at times last season. That pick would be better served to address their many glaring holes. And they wouldn't have to reach at #3.

From what I've heard of the guy, his work ethic and character far surpasses Russell's (which doesn't take much, but still). But NO QB in this draft is Top 5, so why reach???

Teams tend to do stupid things when they are desperate.

The Owners will not be too happy when the Draft is cancelled after the players decertify the Union ----- Hey Goodell how much of thet $1 billion that the owners skim off the top goes into your pockets.

or when a complete hammerhead is runnnig the show...

I wouldn't call Newton a top-five pick, but if they really want him they might have to bite the bullet. He might not get past the 'Skins at ten, and even if he does somebody low in the first will take a flier on him based on talent alone.

Much better!

This guy is going to require 3 years of development in order to play QB in the NFL.

Makes him sound like the next Tebow.

We're going to give them Fat Albert to trade up.

The same was said about Josh Freeman a couple of years ago...

Doubt it. Albert's contract likely equals the entire Bills' team salary.

Some one may jump on it though, we've already given him almost all of the guaranteed money.

Were the Bills planning to be competitive again before then?

#3 is way too high for little Cammie here... I'm not even sure he should go in the 1st round (but we all know he will), much less at #3.
