Vikes not interested in TCF alternative

08:06 AM ET 02.16 | The Vikings prefer not to make a habit of playing at TCF Bank Stadium. Lester Bagley, the Vikings' vice president of public affairs and stadium development, said Tuesday that if a new stadium is built on the site of the Metrodome the team probably would have to play three seasons at TCF Bank Stadium on the University of Minnesota campus. That sounds as if it would be less than ideal for the Vikings. "Because we know now, as we had our game there against the Bears on Dec. 20, that that's not an NFL stadium," Bagley said. "It's a good college stadium, but TCF Bank doesn't really work for the Vikings long term."

Vikings will be in LA sooner than later!

February 16, 2011  08:12 AM ET

Does it really matter where they play? They suck anyway!

Yep...I can see it, because Ziggy is not going to get the support from taxpayers to pay for his dream dome...

You're right. On the bright side, they would have an easier time selling out games playing at TCF.

All they need is a few cutting torches and the Metrodome would make a wonderful outdoor field.

LA here we come

NICE!

I can see Ziggy driving by every night under the cover of darkness and sabotaging any repairs that are already in the works. And every morning the work crew wonders why it seems they are making no progress.

It isn't all that big of a stadium and no booze on campus might have something to do with this as well.
Also the Vikings have signed a contract of intent to buy a large parcel of land in Ramsey county,(ST.Paul area.).

If they move to LA, they'll need to change their team name, it's a shame Brett's not coming back because "Divas" sounds like a good name.

I'm sure the actual stadium is part of the issue but this is part of the politics behind getting a new stadium funded hence I believe Minneapolis will lose another franchise to sunny, southern California.

That would be cool for me, than I wouldn't have to buy the football package to watch the Pack play.

Couldn't they still choose to broadcast the Vikings or is there some geographical guidelines they have to follow? After a couple of seasons I could see Minnesotans losing interest but they'll still have a substantial fan base for a while.

They tried that when Houston lost the Oilers - the S. Texas fans turned away in droves.

Nope. the next regional game in the time zone. before the Vikings were around, I'm told it was always GB games on the tube here.

Also you don't see many North Star fans here any more. or for that matter Laker fans.

Well, my Uncle Bob up in Minny was a PACKER fan before the Vikes in 1960, but I do not think back then TV was a big thing like it is now days. I remember going to a game at the MET (now Mall of America) before the HHH Dome. My Uncle hated the Dome when the Vikes moved.
