08:31 AM ET 02.16 | Jadeveon Clowney squeezed some drama out of his college selection, and he continues to make headlines. [Now] the nation's top recruit from the 2011 class is opening up about Nick Saban, the recruiting process and the final hours leading up to his decision. ... "I don't see no big deal like everybody else," Clowney [told FOXSports.com]. "They'd say, 'He's the king of all of football.' The guy ain't nothing but [5-foot-5]. He's a short guy. Everybody's going crazy on Nick Saban."

Be careful young man. You never know what the future holds. Saban may be your NFL coach in 3-4 years.

Nice. Any one surprised that an 18 year old kid with a huge spotlight on him would make such a stupid comment? (It is pretty dam funny though!) There's a more complete account on al.com. He also said that Saban had his in-home visit back in December I believe and that Nick spent the entire hour talking.

+1 Love it!
I don't think a kid who is challenged by basic sentence structure ("I don't see no big deal like everybody else,") should be judging people by their height.

Then again maybe that's because I'm only 5'-9"!

...and you can be sure this will be locker room ammo.

Words in a cartoon bubble drawn on a wall next to a mounted large mouth bass..."If I'd have learned to keep my mouth shut I wouldn't be mounted on this wall."

sounds like the type of comment that a kid barely bright enough to qualitfy for university would make.

Stupid comment. Not anywhere near the level of genius Terrell Pryor but still stupid. Sounds like he may not be a Rhodes scholar in the future. Regardless, Saban has 2 more NC rings than Clowney could ever dream of having.

February 16, 2011  09:15 AM ET

how about 2 NC rings. Does that make up for what nature didn't bless him with?

Ha ha ha ha. Anyone know where I can scalp a ticket to the first SC/Bama game?

February 16, 2011  09:22 AM ET

Terelle Pryor is a genius. Just ask Mensa.

I don't see whats the big deal.... He never said he wasn't a good coach... JC just said he doesn't worship him like everyone else or BAMA fans.. Its not like Saban is God or Allah...Kid also said if BAMA played a 4-3 he would be headed to BAMA... I give the kid isnt smart.. but nothing wrong w/ what he said

LSU fans thought that when he was there. I guess that has now changed?

unfortunately, the only place they can meet is the SEC championship. they just finished their 2 game series and the likelihood that Clowney is there for his senior year is pretty slim unless he doesn't qualify and goes the prep route instead of JC.

What's in your pipe?

It doesn't really bother me at all. Coach Saban doesn't need to be validated by Jadaveon. It reminds me of when Lache Seastrunk said some stuff about Saban. Lache eventually apologized. This wasn't near as bad as what Seastrunk said. But, anyway, 2 NCs says he knows something about football. And most kids love Coach Saban and the direct way he talks.

I'm sure the auburn fans are eating it up, knowing how they usually react to jokes about Saban's height.

February 16, 2011  09:33 AM ET

Let me also point out he made fun of Spurrier and his voicemasil and he went to South Carolina. So, he doesn't put much stock into the head coach, I suppose.

right now Clowney can dream of having 4.

He could dream of having a LOT more at Alabama, though!

Back away from the monitor, take a deep cleansing breath, take another deep cleansing breath, count to 10, take another cleansing breath. Okay good, now you can go back to cleaning your house Mrs. Saban.

The tone sounds more like something a rival coach's wife might say.
