Why Packers assistant joined Cowboys

10:15 AM ET 02.19 | Why did Jimmy Robinson change jobs five days after Green Bay won the Super Bowl? What's more, why did he join a Cowboys team that lost to the Packers, 45-7, three months earlier? The answer lies in a New York Giants meeting room more than a decade ago. Robinson was preparing for a game as an assistant with the Giants in the early 2000s. Around 8 o'clock on a Wednesday or Thursday night, Robinson doesn't remember which, he walked by the meeting room and found a solitary figure watching tape with the game plan spread out in front of him. It was backup quarterback Jason Garrett.

More money, more money, more money. Plus, the Cowboys could always use someone from a franchise that doesn't screw things up.

I hate to say this and piss of my Cowboy fan friends, but I'm just not sold on Garrett. I'm not sure he can pull this off. I think they should have gone outside of the organization for the headcoach.

I think Garrett will be a good coach, not great, but good. In the end, the defensive talent is very slim on this team and the offense is aging quickly. Don't see them being good for a while.

It won't matter as long as they have the same owner.

I think they did. Jerry just gave him the title of D coordinator for now.

Only a matter of time before Rob Ryan is head coach.

Good hire. This guy fits the Garret profile. Ryan is going to have to be on his toes to keep up. Maybe he is there to be the enforcer.

Agree 100%...Jones is a cancer, and, honestly, I love it that the Cowboys suck as a result of that arrogant jackass.

I'll give him credit for one thing Cupcake was lacking in - and that is organization and preparation. The dude has a plan.
I do share your concerns with the Defense, though. If Ryan is able to improve that side of the ball over the crap we had last year, then this team will have opportunities to put points on the board.
Which brings us back to the QB...

He'll be a head coach if they're defense plays good. Rob Ryan Won super Bowls in New England, somebody will take him too seriously and make him a head coach.

It's all about the moolah people. Why would anybody leave a great team for a poor team unless they're getting big bucks?
