10:24 AM ET 02.20 | A person with knowledge of the conversations told CBSSports.com on Saturday that Jazz point guard Deron Williams began informing close associates after last season that if Amare Stoudemire wound up in New York, Williams would follow him there as a free agent in 2012. If the Knicks got Anthony with the three-year extension under current rules, it is not clear whether they'd have enough cap space to add a player such as Williams, Chris Paul or Dwight Howard when the trio become unrestricted free agents after next season.

Boy the Knicks have everyone coming to play with them. First they got Stoudemire. Now they have Melo, Dwight Howard, Chris Paul and now Deron Williams is coming to play for them in the next few years. I'm stunned that now every player wants to go to New York after a decade of epic fail.

I think they could add one more max free agent but not two or else they will be capped out.

Yep. If they get Melo NY will be on the books for 40mill just to Amare and Melo. Who knows what the new CBA rules will be but under this yrs cap that would leave them 15mill for everyone else.

If they get Melo this won't happen. At least not in free agency, maybe in a trade. In fact if they get Melo that's going to be it for getting max guys in free agency for NY. Still are trades of course

after what happened with sloan and deron getting some of the blame - he needs to move on - some of the fans and other players will never forgive him

i wonder how mush of this is the press and how mush is the players ???
i mean are the players being fed by the press or is the press making up storys the players can't say yes or no to ??? then it just gets out of control (like the new wade add on tv where he said get me out of here) wade's talking about the bathroom
and the fans are eating it up

isiah is gone (hopefully for good), he ruined a proud franchise. Before the 10 year drought, they had a 16 year run in the playoffs

if the knicks get melo, which I hope, than the knicks will have no money for another star. They will have to fill in holes with role players and make a run with what they have. it all depends on teh salary cap.
