12:07 PM ET 02.20 | Goodyear's director of racing Greg Stucker was asked point blank, "Has Goodyear developed the perfect race tire?" He smiled, accepted the compliment then chose his words carefully. "We're very happy," Stucker said. "Let's put it that way." The fact is, Goodyear has worked on the 2011 Speed Weeks/Daytona 500 tire since May 2010, just weeks after the announcement Daytona International Speedway would be repaved. It was worth the effort. Not only do these stock-car tires not generate heat, they don't wear out. Sprint Cup teams have spent virtually no money on tires. Few cars changed tires in the 62- and 60-lap Gatorade Duel At Daytona qualifying races on Thursday. Many of those tires still looked fresh after 150 miles of wear. "Tire wear is basically nonexistent," Stucker said. "Guys could have gone further in the Duel. We know that guys who ran tires in the Duel ran them again in Friday practice to put a few more laps on them." There is talk that some teams may elect to go the distance on one set of tires today.

As far as I'm concerned the best driver won, turned 20 yesterday, wins 500 today. What a geat present. Didn't even know where victory lane was. Great Stuff.

Yeah, Bayne had a great speed weeks. This wasn't a fluke, I don't think.

Rick, he earned every darn bit of everything, no fluke with this youngster

Now, that was a pretty good race this afternoon. It seemed like everyone expected a real snoozefest and it looks like they got a decent race. Jeff Gordon must have seen the talent in that kid the other day, he hooked up with him in practice. It was neat to see the Woods Brothers Ford in the right colors and the #21. Just like the old days. Regan Smith had a good day and the other Ragan #6 also. I see Brad Keselowski is still a bit cocky and on the back bumper it said " Have at it Brad " Of course Kyle got a Top 10 and Joooonya ran true to form at the end, midpack. Kyle was very calm and composed after the race in his interview.

yea, because getting caught up in an accident after having to pit for a flat tire (from the wreck before) is his fault..

I thought it was a good race. The 2 car draft added a different dimension of racing that hasn't been seen before.

Congrats to Trevor, he did a lot pushing for a lot of teams this week and to see him win was great. This kid has potential, more so then say Stale Bread, I just hope they don't rush and put him full time Cup before he is truly ready.

Dale Jr. earns Daytona 500 pole.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. was the only driver to top 186 mph for his first Daytona pole.

Just in case anyone here missed it.

And your point is ???
