08:05 AM ET 02.22 | An e-mailed question about Jay Cutler's leadership qualities gave Lovie Smith a forum on the Bears' official website to defend his quarterback's toughness. "I think he's been a great leader. First off, guys always watch you in the classroom, on the practice field and of course your play on game day. And they like what they've seen from him in that sense. Jay is a tough guy, and the quarterback of the Chicago Bears should be a tough guy. The number of hits Jay took this past season, our guys saw that he constantly got up, didn't complain, and took responsibility for what was happening with our offense. To me, that's a leader."

Well the guy was planted more times than a tulip.

The Bears organization threw Cutler under the bus at the Superbowl and they've left him lying there for almost a month with no real show of support. Nice of them to finally throw him a pillow, at least.

He did get the hell beaten out of him this year.

That Giants game was the epitome. Don't think I've ever seen a qb eat that much turf in just one half.

Cutler's fortunate to have lasted as long into the season as he did. If that Oline is not fixed quickly, Bears fans will see a lot more of Caleb Hanie in the near future.

You got that right. He was pretty shellshocked after that first half. Still, he sure was shown up by a third stringer.

He would be the only one!

Lovie doesn't seem to get much love from Chicago, either. Best that they stick together.

If Jerry Angelo hasn't figured that out by now, he never will. And yet, he still has a job.

I think its funny the one picture, that FN has of Cutler, and he's coughing up the ball.

just representative of his season...constantly getting wrapped up by the D.

Jerry Angelo: (after examining FN pic) I think we need to go defensive end in the first round.

Bullshyte. The third stringer played against a soft defense protecting a lead and went 13-for-20 for one touchdown and two interceptions. Hardly what you could call showing someone up.

How many times do you plant a tulip? I generally stop after the first time.

Cutler's nothing more than a poor man's Kerry Collins...

Angelo has been a horrible talent evaluator. Forte is a good back and Knox is a solid WR but outside of that his drafts have been awful. Name another player that the Bears have developed since their Super Bowl run in 06.

Only a month too late. Just enough time for everybody to forget what a horrible coaching job Dopie did during the NFC Championship game.

Bears/Lions.....hands down the worst offensive lines in football. Any Qb playing under center behind those lines are going to get smacked down left and right.
