08:06 AM ET 02.24 | Ricardo Lockette, out of Fort Valley State, may have a realistic shot at running the combine's fastest 40-yard dash. The 6-foot-2, 207-pound prospect is a former national champion in the 100 meters, and ran track throughout his college career. He put on record a 4.35 40 at Fort Valley State, although Lockette's plan is to run at least a tenth of a second faster in Indianapolis. "I'm shooting for the mid-4.2s," Lockette told PFT Wednesday. "Hopefully, I can get the record." ... Since the combine became a media-friendly event in the late 1990s to early 2000s, Rondel Melendez of Eastern Kentucky and Chris Johnson of East Carolina have run the fastest, tying at 4.24.

Yes, but can he catch the ball?

they went 7-2 but most of the schools they played I am not familiar with.

Auburn almost signed him. After that he bounced around a bit - no one seems to know why. Maybe academics, maybe other issues. But he seems to be the real deal on the field. Off the field could be an entirely different story. Can you say, "life coach?"

Great, another James Jett.

Lockette? For a minute, I thought they were talking about "Lockout." Which, I believe, is about 8 days away if somebody named Roger doesn't get his act together and do something about it.

Hint: It's not Roger Rabbit.

Does Al have anything to do with the bat flying overhead with a stopwatch?

Ouch ...at least we didn't spend a first on him IE: Andy Katzenmoyer

February 24, 2011  10:21 AM ET

Yeah, but it was not electronically timed so who knows what it really was. Renaldo Nehemiah ran a 4.2 when he signed on with the Niners. I'd like to see Usain Bolt run a 40.
