Wainwright injury another blow for Pujols

08:23 AM ET 02.24 | Adam Wainwright over the past two-plus seasons has been one of baseball's best pitchers, and his loss leaves a great hole in the Cardinals lineup. If this means a sentence of .500 doom for the Cardinals, then how does that play in the Albert Pujols drama? With another disappointing season, will the team be able to convince Pujols that he'll have a winning team around him if he stays? Moreover, if Wainwright has Tommy John surgery, he'll probably miss time in 2012. If the Cardinals fail to make the playoffs again in 2011, it will be the fourth miss in five seasons, with no postseason wins since 2006. At that point Pujols might be more inclined to take his talents to a wealthier, more financially empowered franchise that packs enough payroll to offset injuries.

Losing Wainwright is a bick kick in the shins for the Cards. Thier rotation is still better than most teams, but I think this makes the Brewers the favorite. Cincy's got a very good team too, but Milwaukee really made good moves in the offseason.

Pujols will not be going to Boston. He won't DH at this point in his career, and neither will AGon. The only other place Pujols can play defensively is left, and the Sox have some guy named Crawford there.
