Agent on Mankins negotiations: A travesty

08:03 AM ET 02.25 | Logan Mankins, not far removed from his protracted holdout, may still be at odds with the Patriots. Thursday night, on a sidewalk in Indianapolis, [Mankins' agent, Frank Bauer] talked about Mankins' situation and gave a timeline on how it came to this. "One of the best players on your football team (a player) that the coaching staff respects, it's a travesty what they've done with this player," said Bauer. "(A new contract) should have been done a long time ago. It could have been done a long time ago. But it got stopped. And right now, we're not talking." Mankins, franchised by the team recently, stands to make more than $10 million in 2011 if he signs the tender. But he'll still be without the long-term security a contract with guaranteed money and a signing bonus would afford.

Could get ugly for New England if they don't have solid linemen.

That is an outrage! Sure he's going to make $10 mil this year (if they play) but how is he supposed to live after that? What if he gets hurt and no one wants to pick him up after that? How is he supposed to live on only $10 mil for the rest of his life? Pardon me while I go throw up.

The never-ending story...

One could hope.

This reminds me of the movie "The Replacements". "I know 5 million sounds like alot but you have to give 10% to your agent...Do you know how much the insurance on a Ferarri costs?"

With the price of everything going up how in the world will he be able to put food on his table? That is a travesty....one which many people would love to be going through.

Have no fear Count. They can re-stock.

Sure Mankins has a mansion in the Hamptons, but the driveway needs repaving. How can he do that up right on only $10M? Oh, the inhumanity!

But seriously you can't blame the guy for wanting guaranteed money in the current situation.

Lord knows they have two picks in each of the first three rounds! They should just cut him loose so he can come to Indy.

That would be a very nice addition.

There are 2 places Pats fans don't want to see him go to...Indy and you can guess the other one.

The J-E-T-S??? (hehe)

If $10 million for one year's worth of work isn't long-term security, I don't know what is. I know the owners are not innocent in these matters, but this is one response that just doesn't make sense.

Trade him to Buffalo

I love Logan Mankins and he's the best guard in NE since John Hannah

That movie rocked, even with Keaneu Reeves

Gee, $10M seems kinda low. I thought the 'I got my family to feed' bar was set at $21M by Latrell Sprewell.
