Rasheed isn't coming back ... is he?

08:11 AM ET 02.25 | Would Rasheed Wallace fill one of the holes left by Danny Ainge's moves on Thursday? He walked away after the NBA finals Game 7 last season -- a game in which he was one of the best players for Boston -- but he never moved out of Boston. He didn't want to put up with the rigors of a full NBA season, but if it was just 20-something games and the playoffs ... [But Wallace told Boston's NBC 7] that he "gave 15 years" to the NBA was not coming back. At all. So Celtics fans, set your sights on Troy Murphy. Then light some candles in church and say some prayers for Shaq's health.

I kinda knew this was coming. Puts a little color behind the most recent trade. Why is there a Troy Murphy pic in a Sheed thread?

Rasheed is very bloated right now and wouldn't look good in the photo

I heard on the radio that if Perkins had a longer term contract, the Thunder would not pass him on his physical. Since it's a three month rental, they are willing to risk it

I hated this deal, but if we aren't going to sign Perkins long term maybe it makes sense long term. But really we are going to go into the playoffs relying on Shaq, Jermaine O'Neal's rotting corpse, and Nenad Kristic???
I'd welcome back Sheed in April

That's exactly what i was saying! after we made one last push for the title this season we could have at least waited until the season was over then we could have let Perk go but at least we could have gotten a title out of it...... Now Ainge has screwed us badly....... and i wan't to see his heat roll! FIRE AINGE'S DUMB ****!!!!!

It's a strange trade to say the least. The only explanation I can think of is that Ainge felt they needed more offense, especially off the bench. The Celtics seem to have long 2nd half stretches where they just can't score...especially down low. IF(big if) the O'Neals remain healthy enough, they have a deeper, more versatile team. But at a high price; Perkins, for all his offensive limitations is an excellent defender and works well next to KG. It will be interesting to see what the Celtics new rotation is

That doesn't make a whole lot of sense but I think you might be close. I think Perks knee wasn't going to get any better this year.. if at all. I think they rushed him back.
If that's true then trading him doesn't hurt the season any more than losing him does.
But the trade is still about a 9 on the stupid scale I think

MAJOR upheaval!!!
As far as I can see it pretty much tells you the lockout is on. Teams seemed to be making trades more for financial reason than for talent. There won't be a season next year

Yeah I agree that seemed to be the general theme of the day. Get some flexibility.

Well I do feel the one advantage Boston had over every team in the NBA even with Jermaine O"Neal's rotting corpse is we had more bigs and more depth there than anyone. Now we traded that advantage we had matching up agaisnt everyone so they we could hang with the wings. I was hoping we'd be able to get Tayshawn or Battier cheap to solve our wing depth problem. Pierce & Allen did get pretty worn down last season in the playoffs.
So the only things that would make me feel are: Perkins is injury prone & Jeff Green has some James Posey in him
