Twins-White Sox rivalry splits friendship

08:18 AM ET 02.25 | An AL Central rivalry may be at the heart of a rare bit of impoliteness from Canadians. Those who know Justin Morneau say he takes the rivalry more seriously than anybody in the Twins clubhouse. Now we might know just how seriously he takes it. Jesse Crain, who pitched for the Twins for the past seven seasons, said he still hasn't received a call or text of congratulations from Morneau after signing his new contract with the White Sox this winter. "He never congratulated me; he's the one guy who didn't," Crain said. ... Crain and Morneau, both born in Canada, were good friends and had a solid relationship in the clubhouse, according to Crain. Just how much their friendship will change remains to be seen, but apparently it's already been affected. Crain tried to downplay the lack of contact.

Should be a good rivalry this season! Can't wait until the Sox put in Crain.

Suck it Morneau.

QUOTE(#4):

Really? just because they are both from canada, morneau has to send him a congrats for signing with a division rival. Canada is a vast country, we canadians do not know every other canadian in it.

If you read the above blurb, it would be obvious that the two know each other.

Crain's pitch, and it's another high, long drive over the fence in right field. Get used to it White Sox!

I respect your wishful thinking.

Wishful thinking? No I've watched this guy pitch for 7 years. Last year he pitched OK but you only have to go back 3 years to find ERA's of 4.70 & 5.51. He stinks.

Canada only has one road!

Could be, Justin just doesn't remember him.......or anything else for that matter.

Obviously, you meant to be funny, but you do have a point. Justin obviously has more important things on his mind with his continuing recovery. That said, his attitude does recall a time when players actually took team rivalries very seriously.

I'm not worried about it. He won't be the closer. Either Thornton or Sale will be. It can't hurt to have a guy in the pen who knows the hitters on the Twins. Either way, I want the season to start ASAP.

Yeah, and besides, it's hard to text when you are seeing 3 of each key ...

Fair enough. Good luck to your team in 2011.
