Big enough for his grocery bill?

He made $0.65 mil at Notre Dame and took them nowhere. Why is he now worth $2.65 mil? This guy's reputation is obviously not based on performance.

I disagree. His performance as an OC has been stellar. He's just not the right guy for the top job.

It will be interesting to see how coach Weis aggressive play calling fits in at Florida.
Hey Gator fans, make sure there are no little ones in the room during game time,, the words WTF tend to be yelled out a lot when Charlies is in charge.

He has proven he can coach the pro's,, I dont think kids at the college level can handle his style.

His perceived performance was due in part to Tom Brady, Deion Branch and Corey Dillon. Same at KC with Jamaal Charles, Matt Cassel and Dwayne Bowe. Not so much at Notre Dame though. I just don't think his performance in CFB deserves a 400% pay raise.

The water level is rising around Florida.

Or the land is slowly sinking into the Gulf.

I understand there was a thorough engineering study done to ensure the home team sidelines were load-tested sufficiently to handle TheElGrandeOne's size. Same for the OC's skybox.

You can never be too careful.

I tend to agree with Doc BFG on the point that while he has been stellar as a NoFunLeague OC, his CFB track record, whether you judge him as an offensive playcaller/OC, or as a head coach, is substantially different at this point.

All I can say is, we'll see what happens. I am leery of all the NFL coaching experience on our staff, both on O and on D. Will be an interesting experiment.

I think he will do fine at Florida with the talent they have and the ability to focus 100% on the offense. I just don't think he deserves to make 265% more than the DC and 400% more than the next highest-paid coach on the payroll - not yet anyway. I think it sends the wrong message to the rest of the staff. Pay should be based on merit - take out the emotion and let the decision be data-driven.

By the way...
.... I'm a Florida fan and I hope he succeeds.
.... Longhorns are over-paying their coaches too.

Weis seemed to be a great guy. I hate to see him going to the Short on Ethics Conference (SEC).

February 26, 2011  01:11 PM ET

So many jokes here....Are they paying him by the pound? If so, he's cheaper than ground chuck. Do they pay him in cash, or Twinkies? Muschamp had to make him the richest asistant....Jabba threatened to sit on him if he didn't. I've alway heard Gainsville was the center of the univererse for college athletics. Now they have a planet big enough to have gravitational pull to make that statement true.......I could go on all day.....

I've always heard "bluesuiter" as describing someone in the air force. If so his CO should take him behind the hangar and ....

At least a FN person did not write the headline, otherweis it would had read he received a big fat raise, or a hefty raise, or...

Odd to think he had stomach surgery to avoid adverse perceptions due to his weight.
