10:59 AM ET 02.26 | Like many other potential high NFL draft picks who decide to stay in school for one more year, Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck is getting an insurance policy in case an injury keeps him from playing pro football. The policy, purchased through the NCAA's Exceptional Student-Athlete Disability Program, allows players to buy up to $5 million worth of insurance. They are allowed to defer payment of the premiums until they sign their NFL contracts. Athletes in any sport that has a professional league are eligible to take part.

All her fans will be left with precious memories of how great life was when coach Harbaugh ran the show.

Me too. Wide World of Sports was great as was Wild Kingdom.

ESPN copied the WWoS template and ran all sorts of sports back in the early days. They did it almost 24/7 using all those cable outlets and satellite dishes whereas ABC had a set time slot and you had to be within receiving distance of a broadcast tower. Pretty soon ESPN took over the diverse sports programming niche and WWoS was shelved.

I always, always, flinched and hurt a little at the " agony of defeat", when the skier's neck gets broke. OUCH! I heard this guy went on to ski again.

I sure miss the old days.

Wide World of Sports was the first program to air coverage of Wimbledon, The Indianapolis 500, the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship, the Daytona 500, the U.S. Figure Skating Championships, the Little League World Series, Triple Crown, The Open Championship, the X-Games, the Grey Cup, and many other events.

WWoS was truly innovative. I would have never watched a car race or a tennis match on my own but WWoS made them interesting and compelling.

The ESPNWhore only wishes they were this smart or innovative.

You are right. They were first, and did it better.

Were they there when the Fonz jumped 40 cars at Arnold's parking lot? Pat McKay wasn't it?
