08:46 AM ET 02.27 | Under intense scrutiny due to strong drug rumors surrounding him, Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett refused to discuss the unconfirmed allegations today at the NFL scouting combine. "It doesn't bother me," Mallett said. "I would say I'm a great person. I would tell them ask the coaches I've worked with before if you want to know about my character." How do the rumors get started? "I can't tell you," Mallett said. "When I saw that stuff, I laughed about it. You can't control it." When asked if he had an issue with drugs, he denied having a problem. "No, not at all," Mallett said.

Hope not...that guy was a wreck waiting to happen.

WPS, KF...any such whispers in the Arky circles about this?

February 27, 2011  09:20 AM ET

This kid is scary...and not in a good way!

February 27, 2011  09:22 AM ET

I think he has a better chance of success in the NFL than Newton does.

Mallett laughs off drug rumors.

Then he threw his bong at reporters. Bahaha!

Jones, Mustain, and now Mallett - Is there something in the Fayetteville water, or is it guilt by association?
(in that neck of the woods, I thought their vices would have been distributed in Mason jars, and not bags)

No drug problem. Reliable connection, top quality, good prices, see, no problem.

Ryan Mallett draws Ryan Leaf comparisons
Cam Newton draws JaMarcus Russell comparisons

This draft could be epic

Good one.

No questioning his arm though. He can make that NFL throw - the 20 yard out - with extreme velocity. His accuracy just needs a touch more development. If he slides to the 2nd or 3rd round and Jerry passes him up I'll be disappointed.

He needs to fix his happy feet.

He needs to go to the Jets then. I hear their coach likes feet.

Yep. Lots of rumors. Great arm, not sure about the mental part. Of our 3 losses: Auburn game he was hurt in first half and sat rest of the game. Against Bama on the potential game winning drive he throws an INT. Against OSU he throws an INT on a potential game winning drive. Big time players make big time plays in big time games. I didn't lose any sleep by him leaving early.

Come visit, we speak English here. FYI, none of the above mentioned were FROM Fayetteville.

I have heard that comparison too. Leaf had quite the temper. The truth is nobody will ever really know until he plays. If I were looking at drafting him I would dive deep into the mental part/leader part. He has the physical tools, but in the NFL that is only a part of being successful.

We're trilingual in Texas...English, Spanish and Hick! We can also combine the three for a completely new language.

Odd you mention that - the summer I worked near Maysville and Gravette, I occasionally needed a Cherokee interpreter to converse with some of the locals.
