Aaron critical of A-Rod

All that is true. A lot of ball was played by guys nursing some serious hang overs.

I think Aaron is a man of great integrity...and it bothers him that A Rod is not.

Which, among other things, makes it a lot easier to see the ball. Take a look at day/night splits sometime. Just another reason why it's difficult to compare players across generations.

So when ARod breaks the record, (which I'm sure he will, he'll hang around long enough to do that at least) does he get in the HOF? I've heard some of the same journalists that decry Bonds and McGwire somehow conviently forget ARod is in the same boat and declare him a future HOFer.

Not to bust on Hammerin' Hank, but A-Rod's mention of having a great winter for the first time in recent memory was in reference to his ability to prepare without rehab, not about whatever irons he may have had in the fire. Every player should have a great winter every time, insofar as allowing yourself to be ditracted, but Aaron is off the mark and a little muddled in his thinking.

That being said, A-Rod is a shrimper. But in baseball terms, I'd take him over 28 other starting third basemen right now.

Who would be the one you would take then? I'd tell ya right now I'd take Longoria, Zimmerman and now that Youk is at third I'd take him too over ARod.

Totally agree. I couldn't care a less about the steroids, and I'll bet Aaron doesn't care either. But guys like A-Rod are classless and lack any integrity at all. Baseball just isn't the same game, I'll bet Aaron has seen it slipping away bit by bit over the years (like all the rest of us have...)

Believe me, I'm not defending Arod, but the game was full of players who acted like scumbags and had very little class back then also. Most fans knew very little about the way players really were back in the days before the Internet and cable TV. Mickey Mantle and Ted Williams are two perfect examples.
