06:22 AM ET 02.28 | World lightweight boxing champion Juan Manuel Marquez of Mexico is in a battle over his future that could result in his splitting from Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions to land a coveted shot at Manny Pacquiao, whose bouts are among the biggest paydays in the history of the sport.

He should split. Golden Boy has failed in getting him the fight he wants and should look elsewhere to get it. The problem is that Golden Boy has the option to match any offer.

If Marquez isn't with Golden Boy he will get his deserved third fight with Pac.

Juan Manuel Marquez .. although it may be true that you are one who will give Manny Pacquiao a run for his money, stop dreaming of that fight because of money. You're shooting off your mouth saying you are "poison" to Manny Pacquiao. The truth is you're not. You're only saying this because you know that Manny now commands top attention and is the regarded as the greatest pound-for-pound king. You want to be in the ring with him because you want the millions he commands. That is being GREEDY, JMM .. you are becoming greedy. Boxing is sports, people watch it for the love of the sport .. You're making everyone feel you're in it for the big bucks.

If you really want a fight with the Pacman, you'll have to prove that you are good. You're first 2 encounters were a Draw and a split decision. The judges were fair and they were right, irregardless of opinions. The fact of the matter is he's up there and you're not. Do you deserve to be in the ring with the Pacman? Prove it in your next succeeding matches. Win them, be an exciting fighter, command the show and then maybe .. just maybe, you'll get your shot.

By my book you are a great fighter. You are on the fence of having been a great fighter and still a great fighter. Prove to the world that YOU ARE STILL A GREAT FIGHTER .. fight and win.

I disagree. JMM has proven a worthy foe, as worthy as anyone else out there by being the top lightweight in the world and also because there is unfinished business between these two. They have a draw and VERY controversial decision.

The judges where not fair in the second fight. JMM schooled Pac and and everyone ringside agreed. Hate to break this to you but judges are sometimes planted to have the big money fighter win.

JMM has made Pac look very vulnerable in both their fights which is why he says he is poison to him. Even some of Pac's handlers have said they don't want JMM because he makes Pac look poor and that hurts his earning ability.

What do you mean JMM is greedy? He is gunning for the top fight and hasn't been taking cupcakes in the meantime. Katsidis was considered a top guy at lightweight and is much more of a foe than Clottey, Margarito and Mosley all of whom don't put where coming off loses or bad performances. Everyone fights for money in this game and Pac really doesn't have another opponent worth facing.

Even the Filipino press had JMM winning the second fight.
